People think he can’t coach anymore because he doesn’t go off on the sideline like he used to. How many coaches do you see going off on the sidelines? None. There are dozens of good to great coaches who don’t act like Saban used to.
You know what? Maybe quality coaches and players stopped wanting to be a part of the program because they can coach or play somewhere else and not get embarrassed on the sidelines. That right there might be reason enough to chill out.
In the end, Saban has won championships and had championship caliber teams without ranting and raving. He doesn’t have to do it to win.
He was two key injuries away from going back to back in 2021.

I was going to say, this may be a "careful what you wish for" moment for a lot of people on this board.
I heard a lot of similar things over the years. Saban was washed after the 2018 title game and then not making the playoffs the next season. Then he came back with one of the best teams he ever fielded in 2020. He was done after the A&M loss and close Iron Bowl win the next year. Blew out UGA and made the title game again.
I'm weirdly optimistic, and won't believe Saban is ready to hang it up until he does.

Yep. Some are too young to remember the lean years I guess

Saban has put together a fairly putrid staff by his own standards. There is no one on this staff that is going to be poached by another program or leave for a HC job. There are no analysts in the program with extensive resumes that are ready to be moved into an on the field role and then onto greater things.
The team is undisciplined. Lots of mental errors in blocking from the offense and from the QBs. Tons of penalties.
Lots and lots of excuses. More talking about getting better than I can ever remember by orders of magnitude. Just talk talk talk.

Give it a few weeks when the losses start to pile up and just sit back and enjoy the blame game starting up inside the football building. Should be an interesting show and probably beat product on the field this year.

Off the top of your head , can you name another team who has a staff full of future HCs?

If they do, they won’t for long.
Saban has done an incredible job of bringing in quality coaches. Most of them are now head coaches. We get mad because of a dearth of quality guys.
Saban tried a long-haul approach with Golding. Didn’t work out. If it had, he could’ve had a good staff member for several years instead of two and done.
Saban is playing 3d chess while Finebaum and trolls are playing Candyland.

BoB and Golding don’t count as good coaches. And the new coaches aren’t great either. Face it saban is in the inevitable decline. When is the last time a coach his age has won a national championship?

That's no longer the case. The Najee story illustrates that perfectly.
For whatever reason, Saban totally kissed Najee's arse. Kinda signaled a change after that 2020 season. Saban offered up his nutsack to appear woke. He hasn't been feared by players since. Downvote all you want... it's true.

Dan Enos straight up ghosted Saban. Screw that guy

Saban needs to retire at the end of the year. He is a net negative to the program now
I cannot believe this has 7 upvotes. People are fricking INSANE these days. Holy shite

Look, we’ve all got our issues with how things are going right now, and Saban bears some blame for that, certainly. But holy crap, does anyone realize how LONG we would have to be terrible in order for Nick freaking Saban to be a net negative?

He will be long gone before he is ever that.

That's about the best way to put it. I'm certainly in the camp of trusting the old ball coach than believing it's really over. There are some frustrating things happening in the program as of late that don't look good, but I still believe there is enough "make his arse quit" left in Saban to stay at the top.

This place is obsessed with fear..
Respect trumps fear and Saban has all of the respect.
We haven't won because he has mad bad coordinator hires and bad positions hires; not because NIL, fear or whatever fans on the outside think is the issue.
We went on a tremendous run because we had fantastic coordinators and postiona coaches who developed our talent and gameplanned so well we were so confident to kill each opponent come game day.
Now we have anxiety.. why? Players obviously aren't confident in the people leading them and their plan they want them to execute

Nick Saban on Jalen Milroe: 'He's got nothing to prove here. He's our guy.'

Question: what caused Saban to do a complete 180 on Milroe immediately following the players only meeting?
This comment combined with his quotes from when he named Milroe the starter do not align with common sense.

Bama is a top 10 program playing like a 25th-30th ranked program, maybe worse. That’s on Saban. The poor staff, the undisciplined play, that’s on Saban. Whatever made him successful in the past isn’t working.
In baseball terms, it’s a case of looking at WAR. Saban is negative in that respect. I think half a dozen coaches in the SEC would do a better job than Saban has done this year and I see no reason to think he’s going to get any better. He’s not putting a complement product on the field.
