Just thought I would pop in and tell you guys that my condition has improved to the point that the doctor just informed me that I can go home. My blood oxygen level is back to normal and my cough has gotten better. I am still testing positive but I am going home to self quarantine and then report to a local doctor to be tested again in two weeks. It was a rough couple of weeks but praise God, I am going home. I am gonna surprise the kids. My mom is picking me up in about an hour. Gonna take home some nicotine patches. Giving up smoking has been one positive thing that happened while I was sick. Thank you for the support and prayers. I really do appreciate it.

You’ll continue to have my prayers. I’m relieved for you and your family. I bet your mom will freaking cry when she sees you

Great news, bro! Prayer is powerful. Now you've got me inspired to try to quit smoking. SOON.
I would have never guessed that you smoke. I hope you can quit. You’re dang sure stubborn enough to whoop it

One thing that really puzzles me about the spread of the virus is how unpredictable it seems to be, both for the better and worse.
It's hard to understand how, on one hand, you have certain rural/smaller city hotspots where it seems pretty clear that one person spread it to hundreds in just a single spot.
(Funeral in Albany Ga, religious service in New Rochelle NY, Idaho Skiers festival, to just name a few)
Based just on those examples, it seems that the spread rate / likelihood is off the charts high.
On the other hand, there must have to be tons of instances of the exact opposite happening: someone in early stages exposed a ton of people and none or hardly any of them caught it.
For example, just from personal experience, is an early March band show in Brooklyn crowded with 300+ people which had someone test positive, who actually left the show sick with a high fever after interacting closely with tons of people all night. Lots of people I know were asked to quarantine 14 days but only a couple ended up getting it, at least to the point of showing symptoms.
I know there's a ton of other variables but it just seems strange how one guy shaking hands with friends at a church spreads it to 75% of the people there and a girl partying in a crowded club with a fever spreads it to almost no one.

I take good care of myself except for that -- it's my one unhealthy vice. I've smoked since I was young, so I gotta quit it! You're right -- I'll do it by getting pissed off about it.

I’ve never smoked, but I heard once it gets ya, it’s tough to kick the habit.
I know you can beat it, I just hope ya don’t piss off too many friends and family members while you do it

That it is odd, and I wonder if the common flu every year is similar. I know my wife is for some reason really susceptible to the flu. She's had it a few times in recent years, but every case has been very mild. I have never caught it from her, but my daughter did one year, and my son did another year.
I have seen a few suggestions on Twitter that intimate that this virus seems to target people of color more aggressively. Lanett(Chambers County) is a predominantly black town, and this particular church is predominantly black from my understanding. But I'm not sure there's any scientific data on why that may be the case, if it is in fact the case.

In my experience, as long as a person "needs" to quit smoking but doesn't want to, it's quite difficult to quit. However, as soon as a person "wants" to quit smoking, it's easy as pie. The key is behavior modification as your brain has associated smoking with so many different daily activities.

I quit smoking 10 years ago last month and the only time I have fallen off the wagon during that time was after the first day of the bar exam when I got home and smoked about half a pack over the course of the evening. Haven't had one since.

If there ever was a day to smoke, that would certainly be it.

To any smokers out there who just cannot quit but would like a healthier (relatively) alternative, by some high quality rolling tobacco and roll your own. You'll end up smoking less and smoking a much less harmful version of tobacco.
Any cardiopulmonary specialist worth his/her salt will quickly tell you that the manufactured version of cigarettes is much, much worse than smoking rolling tobacco. Big Tobacco companies treat the tobacco with so many chemicals in order to get a specific flavor and make them more addictive, and it's those chemicals that are the most harmful thing, more so than the irritation of simply inhaling hot smoke. And everyone should know, smoking ultralights is the single most harmful cigarette you can smoke, as there is no such thing as "light" or "ultralight" tobacco. It has to be heavily chemically treated to achieve that desired taste, and those chemicals are crazy. And lastly, a manufactured cigarette will continue burning if it's not puffed on - that is no accident. A rolled cigarette will simply go out if not puffed on.
No, I am no cardiopulmonary specialist, but the above info came directly from one.
EDIT: And if you absolutely have to buy manufactured cigarettes, buy Reds/Full flavor or better yet American Spirit brand if you can find them.
Also, to anyone who absolutely cannot quit smoking but needs to, just smoke less - a lot less if possible. That is something you likely can do, and it will have significant benefits. And start doing some cardiovascular exercise.
