1633 cases, 44 reported deaths.

Congratulations, Geneva County. You are the last remaining county without a confirmed case.

Well, this is great news. The nursing home in Dothan that had a coronvirus case is now coronvirus free after the woman who had it has now recovered. Nobody else has tested positive.

Dothan, AL (WTVY)-- While news of the coronavirus pandemic is dreadfully depressing, there is good to report.

The first nursing home resident in southeast Alabama to test positive for COVID-19 should emerge from isolation soon and return to her room at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation in Dothan.

Chief Nursing Officer Nathan Chase revealed the woman has since tested negative twice, with a third test pending. If that one is also negative---and that is expected--she will be able to return to a normal routine.

In all, seven Extendicare residents have been tested with only the one positive result.

“The excellent performance of our staff and the community support are all contributing factors in our efforts to mitigate exposure,” Chase said in a statement.

That is good to hear. I figure a nursing home would get wiped out if the virus ever got inside the facility.

Indeed. The staff there must have really been on top of things (especially after what happened in Washington). I thought for sure there would have been more cases, but somehow they were able to keep it to 1.

My wife will be furloughed for four weeks, but they were considerate enough to spread it out one week at a time over the next three months.

Can you get assistance from the government with a reduction in hours/pay?

Only if it pushes you below the income threshold for assistance.

ETA-You do get a federal stimulus check that's supposed to help out with that, but I'm not sure how many of your work hours $1200 or less will cover.

Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know that there is talk of me going home in a couple of days. My blood oxygen levels are just about back to normal and my cough has gotten much better. My vitals are looking good outside of a still low oxygen saturation which isn't nearly as low as when I checked in here. I feel good and I am more than ready to go home. Hope all is well with you guys and I very appreciate all of the prayers and well wishes. Thank you very much.

That's great to hear, Data. I hope you stay off the smoking once your recovery is complete.

I think we’ll all be relieved when you get to go home. Take it easy for a few days when you get home

Wasn't that Governor getting some praise over Kay Ivey the other day?

I'm sure mine have been lower than whatever you saw. Hole in lung at 18, and collapsed. Maybe high 60s, low 70s o2 sat. The jump from stationary 92% to discharge at around 98% with walking, took a few days. Very boring days, but nothing beats knowing you've turned the corner and can see the light. Overall was a 9-10 day ordeal. Needless to say, I've feared coughing for the last 21 years of my life Glad to once again see good news for you.

Have you considered or asked about donating plasma once you're released? Unsure where they are on injecting folks with antibodies in your area... but I'm sure you could help save a life somewhere. Just something to ponder next couple days.

Kemp is a fricking moron. Anyone who thinks he is any better than Ivey is misinformed, and that is no endorsement of Ivey. Kemp is just a profoundly stupid man, and he's a coward on top of that.

Actually, I was considering before I ever got sick. I donate blood to red cross every time I see their bus in front of Walmart so I had an appointment at a place in Huntsville to donate plasma. Was supposed to be a two visit process. Will definitely do it once I have a couple negative test results.

Yeah, it was more of a "even this moron is doing this." Now this moron is back to doing moronic things.
