That's what's been going in my neighborhood in Brooklyn for the last 8 or 9 days:

Supermarket keeps getting a lot of new shipments daily but you can't count on any single item being there at a given time.

Watching a replay of the 2015 Bama @ UGA game.

They matched up with us physically pretty good for most of the first half of that game.

There were just too many grown arse men on that 2015 Bama team for UGA to keep up the whole game.

Man, what a player Reggie Ragland was for us.

Close the stores down for inside shopping. All the stores around here already either do delivery or curbside pickup including Walmart. Order online or pull up and hand them your list of needed items. This protects the employees, stops the hoarding, makes sure people get what they need with a limit.

Yesterday at a local Walmart they had signs out of items like TP that were limited 1 pack per customer and even a continued announcement over the in store speaker. People still ignored and a cashier got hit because she refused to sell them more then one pack. People are just crazy and stupid.

This is probably the best map/stats site I’ve seen. It seems to update the most frequently. Has a map with clickable counties, and all sorts of good stuff.

Father worked but also had a small farm. We always grew a pretty big garden. Raised beef, chickens and pigs. Never bought much from a store except flour, cornmeal etc... I miss those days.

I still grow a garden every year. Can and preserve. Don’t raise beef but I buy head of beef that goes in the freezer every yr.

Point is... ppl rely on stores for food and just about everything. Times like these makes me appreciate what my daddy taught us growing up.

Did you see my earlier post of somehow in Tuscaloosa they ruined over half of the 1000 samples they had gotten before they could even test them?

Yep. DCH strikes again.

My stepfather owned businesses in Huntsville, but we also had a cattle farm just across the TN border near I-65 -- our weekend home. Huge garden, four stream-fed ponds loaded with fish, fridge & freezers always loaded with veggies, grass-fed beef and wild game. We ate healthy real food, hardly any store-bought or processed foods. If we can't grow, hunt & fish for food, we can buy it in bulk from fish markets, local meat processors, farmers markets and roadside produce stands. Buying from those lower-overhead sources is a good choice, especially now with stock-outs at grocery stores. And why pay extra anyway for high costs of food processing, packaging, distribution, advertising and retail store costs to buy less healthy foods?

Drive-thru by Assurance Scientific Labs has ended at Church of the Highlands. They are stopping apparently because UAB is about to begin their big drive-thru testing service.

Anyone else heard that Gov Ivey announcement tomorrow evening? Rumor has it there will be an announcement of shutting down all non essential business in the state. Not sure what constitutes as non essential. I know essential are grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies, food serving establishments, but what about like Lowes and stuff? Like say my fridge goes out and they shut them down what am I supposed to do?

Message 39 Year Old Healthcare Worker in Nola Dies Before COVID-19 Test Results Come Back Posted by SlowFlowPro on 3/21/20 at 2:24 pm Nola quote: She had a slight fever. Crescent Care, her employer, had only a handful of tests for the new strain of coronavirus on hand; she initially passed on the chance to take one, after being told she was low-risk for the serious disease. When her symptoms didn't shake, she did take the test on Monday. By Thursday, she felt "something in her lungs," she told longtime partner Josh Anderson. But she still felt well enough by then to join Anderson as the pair walked her dog. On Friday, Anderson found Ott dead in her kitchen. Her test results have still not come back.

If the state of Alabama has not already done so, they are probably going to announce that they are doing what Jefferson County did the other day: closing all non-essential businesses that are regulated by the health department (salons, theaters, gyms, etc).

If they don't shut things down the contagious virus will overrun the country and crash the medical system.

Wish people would stop being selfish snowflakes and learn what sacrifice means.

People are who they are. Here they have tried to leave parks open for the trails and the lake open for boats but at one of the parks had all the playgrounds and picnic area taped off with signs everywhere only the trails are open. But some church was determined to have their picnic and brought their own table and tents and setup. It did not bode well once the police showed up.

So now emergency personal have to deal with the idiots like this.

In Brooklyn, Home Depot and Lowes were part of the "essential" businesses exempt from closing doors.

Here is some discouraging information. Dr. Robert Record of Christ Health Center, which has been helping to conduct the testing at Church of the Highlands, said that of 900 tests that they were analyzing yesterday (so I guess tests performed in the last couple of days), 31 of those 900 were positive. That's a 3.125% positive rate, which Dr. Record says is similar to what was seen with community testing in Italy.

You can see his comments here: LINK

Also, I don't get why they're shutting down testing there just because UAB is opening up their testing site Monday (see my earlier post for that story). Seems like we will probably end up with less testing in the Birmingham metro than we had before.
