It’s not a loser mentality, it’s a strategic mentality, it’s like playing checkers vs chess. People need to think more than one move ahead.

If you go to the SEC championship game and you lose you are likely out of the playoff, if you go and win against a one loss team, you get a bye but may have to face that team again a few weeks later.

The odds don’t favor a positive outcome from either winning or losing the SEC Championship as it relates to the playoffs.

Here's the thing it's not like Bama gets an actual choice. Nor is it like they will tank the SEC title game by pulling players to not risk injury. Bama is going to try to win every game and they have zero control on how the other games play out

So I don't understand the strategic take. Strategy implies something Bama will do differently but they won't.

I disagree with this sentiment.

I can’t name one time under Saban that we won the SEC championship but not the national championship and the fan base regarded it as a success.

It’s a loser mentality. Bama has to win every game. If they win every game more than likely they are playing in Atlanta.

Bama can’t implement a strategy in the current situation. Win and play whoever is on the schedule.

I guess you can cheer against Mizzou the rest of the way. That’s your strategy.

Bring on the SECCG! I don’t trust anyone else to beat Texas and it will be miserable if they win the first one after joining the league due to an easy schedule.

Winners want to compete, and if we lose that game, we probably weren’t going to win the NC anyway.

I will say it would be pretty cool to win the SEC in Saban's last season, switch coaches, and win it in DeBoer's first season. The Rant meltdown would be sweet.

Basically it comes down to this......we must beat oklahoma and auburn first.
If we don't make the SEC championship game, we host a 1st round playoff.
We make the championship game and win, we get a bye and several weeks to get healthy.
We make the championship game and lose, we might have a 50/50 shot of making the playoffs.
Going to be interesting....

You lose an on campus playoff game.
We finish 10-2 without the championship game and we almost certainly host. Now winning the championship gives you a bye, but if you lose it you are either out or on the road in the first round.

Yeah, in a just world, they reward the winner and dont punish the loser. Bama SHOULD still host if they lose. What the committee actually does is a different story

If I know one thing, it's this: Ewers, who has looked fairly average for much of the season, will be a combination Unitas/Marino/Manning against us in the SECCG if we face the Horns.

I don't think we will make the play offs if we lose another game. We are giving ourselves too much credit for beating up on Missouri and LSU. Missouri was behind the eight ball with injuries and heck Florida beat LSU. Basically two bad teams. We are improving and if this continues we got a shot.

Reading fundamentals are your friend.

I made a comment about the difference between strategic mentality and loser mentality, not the strategy of the Alabama football team.

You can’t backpedal now. Just say “I’m a coward and I don’t want Bama to win the SEC because I hope we miss the game”. It’s all good.

That is 3 downsides, not one. And then, there is injury risk.

It's just a money grab with more downside than up.

It needs to be put out to pasture or do away with the AQ slot for G5 teams and conf champs.

Just rank the top 12 and that is the field.

You have chance to win the SEC Championship and for me I do not want to make the playoffs unless I have chance to advance to win it all. We win the SEC Championship that means this team is ready to win it all.
