Looking at the Wolf position and not being clear on Latham's status, although I honestly don't think he's a stand up pass rusher myself, that depth looks thin. I wonder if any of the younger inside guys could line up wide and be effective?

I bet Woodson will play some Wolf. I imagine we may try to use him like we did Jihaad Campbell.

Tommy White was on those 58-60 teams. He has the 5th or 6th longes punts at Bama 81 yards. He is from my hometown.

Tommy's sister married Pete Steele and Kevin Steele is one of their children.

Small world.

Sorry for old home week.

Buckeye fans are ecstatic at the thought of landing Smith and to a lesser extent Russaw. Good luck to them

Latham plays a 5-technique (hand down) and squeezes down-blocks by an OT. An “Edge rusher” is a 7-tech that aligns in a 2-point. Latham and Pierre have drastically different roles regardless of labels

No. If he stays maybe we're able to land his brother who is an absolute stud.

You can’t wait for the portal period to play out? New significant players are being added hourly. Wait until it’s over and reassess.

Smith could play a 5-tech and a 3-tech which made him very versatile. Latham is strictly an old-school 5-tech. I look for Renaud to get reps there behind (hopefully) Latham even though he doesn’t have the ideal length, but he is serviceable there and can squeeze and spill and also box pullers.

I am hopeful Kalen is going to upgrade his coaching staff.

I will still argue no parity like some make it. Yes the P4 conferences maybe see more teams inside their own conference can sit at the table but outside of the P4 there is even less parity now. The G6 schools are now feeder schools for the P4 that at one time some were in P5 conferences. Since the expansion, NIL, and the portal even once P5 teams like WSU and OreSt are now just G6 teams trying to survive.

There is no parity just the rich(P4 conferences) getting richer. Why so many want to make this out to some great evolution of the game when in the end will be left with a few super leagues and half what once was CFB an afterthought.

Alabama has already gotten one of the top DL out of the portal. They are looking at others, some i would assume we have not been aware of. If at the end it is a failure then whine and gripe if you want. But please spare the rest of us until then - it gets old. Thanks

Actually him staying would help I think. I’m sure it’s just talk but someone mentioned in radio possibly moving Hubbard to one of the inside backer positions. If he can add ten pounds or so and keep his speed that would be a good move to me. He certainly has that LB mentality to him.

He was the one we had to have given who’s currently in the portal.

Massive, massive pickup for next year.

Smith and Russaw are both consistently good, they just don’t give enough consistent effort to be great and their numbers reflect that.

Unfortunately they want to be paid on potential rather than production so I wish them the best.

We were never going to be able to run with Brailsford at center.

Brailsford was the starting center for the UW runner up team with a 1k rusher that won the Joe Moore award.

Agree 100 % I just don't think they're going to get the same results they got last time after taking Alabama players from the portal. Which is what they expect.

Do we even know that Latham is coming back? He had a pretty serious injury, didn’t he? Plus he’d need a waiver. I feel like he was already a 5th or maybe even 6th year guy last year.

Which is understandable because both were high 4*-5* kids who can flash on tape when they want to.

But neither of these guys are Caleb Downs for damn sure either in talent or production.

You are clueless. Who are you referring to as the best? Formby, Smith, Keely? Who?
