Greene was pretty athletic aka smaller out of HS, makes me laugh to think he was catching passes
Bama has never really brought much to the table at TE, yet it always finds a way to turn out ok. McCall and Walker could barely combine for 300 yards, but they still managed to contribute offensively with their blocking.
It might be a 3rd TE type situation with Greene, eligible and better than whomever is 3rd on the block as a blocker.
Sounds like they are flip-flopping to find the best 5, Arie has been at RT before while Shepherd has played at and backed up at LG previously.

I think you need to settle down. Saban is trying to find another BMWs to play TE. Greene is practicing catching the ball in case they want to run a trick play. He would just be an extra blocker 99% of the time.

We are practicing a DE and an OL at TE. If that doesn't tell you that we have no viable option at the position, idk what will.

pretty sure with a number of kids who have played their last year we have options..We ran some 3 TE sets last year in short yardage and this may be some of the options when we bring the beef package

Vogler should be solid, OJ is more WR than TE at this stage of his career, Faciane is in the dog house, and then you have a bunch of guys who are more H-back than traditional TE.
Basically, they are looking for someone to come in and block in short yardage situations this year.

I have a bad feeling that we will be airing it out a LOT this season to our WRs.

Beef package-Fanning and Greene at TE, Fowler at HB, Ivory or R Foster at FB, Henry at RB. Short yardage with ease.

TE is our weakest position in terms of talent and depth. We've lost more TE/H-back players than we've brought in the last couple years. Which is why I'm mystified it doesn't appear to be a priority at all for the '14 class.
We have to look at Greene and Fanning as big blocking TEs because with Faciane suspended we don't have any.

Agreed - we did pretty much start a walk-on at HB last year.
But I am hoping Greene was just there because Cam Rob showed up at practice.

Some moves among first-teamers could be in the works for the offensive line. When the group split into "left side" and "right side" players, Arie Kouandjio, who had been working as a first-team left guard, went with the "right side" players while Austin Shepherd, who was previously at right tackle, went with the "left side" group.
I think Shep is better at Guard than Tackle, and Arie I'm all for playing at OG or RT. I really wanted the Wall of Kouandjio, but if it did end up being those two at Tackle, The Kouandjio Bookends or something like that could work.

They are actually both really intelligent, so that could work

Haven't you heard some Scout insider says CRob is a done deal to LSU. He must've asked MemphisPlaya

We are fricked at TE
Not really, the bodies we have are just lanky pass catchers who are either early in their careers (OJ), obviously having trouble adding bulk (Vogler), or their bodies are more suited for HB (Faciane, Jones). That is what makes Fanning interesting because his level of athleticism has been known for a long time, if he can maintain both his weight and his athleticism he can do great things.
Greene is getting a look at Y because like I said our current Y type bodies are stick figures and we basically use the Y as a third tackle in the run game.

Chase Goodbread dropped by from his new NFL job to post some stuff on TS:
* Falkins, Belue, and Devall are having good camps so far
* Of the returning starters defensively, DePriest is the likeliest to lose his spot if anyone.
* Dickson is not really a OLB or 5 tech, subpackage rusher
* Still looking for a vocal leader defensively
* Maurice Smith may be the next Bama CB, looking sharp

CJ? HaHa? Belue?
If we truly don't have a vocal leader, then this is looking more and more like 2010.

As Trey W would say, Greene is definitely a Yackle at this point.

I hope so
Seriously though, depending on who you believe, BOL said Geno was getting pushed by Mo for STAR.
I'm a big Geno fan, but Mo is getting some love in camp so far...

Seriously, put the keyboard down tonight. It will all be ok in the morning.
