I don’t know but I’m done trying to figure out social media posts and young people nowadays. Downs is still friends with the guys on the Alabama team and shared Lawson’s story. I’m not getting my hopes up after the last few days.

Same bro. It’s just too cold to go out tonight so I’ve got nothing else to do

Downs is stepping into the unknown; isn’t he?
Alabama is the known where he has proved himself. No coaching staff is going to do anything to hurt his career, in fact they’ll go out of the way to help him. His success is their success. What about all the players on the team he has played with? Saban will be still around for any advice he may need. Unknown are the other other schools.
New coaches, new teammates, new admin, new teachers, new school, new town. Clearly you are leaving the tried and tested for a promise in the sky.
What about loyalty? Does that even enter into the equation?

I’m holding onto this hope in my gut that all the talk about abandoning his teammates got to him.

That’s the thing, right? There’s 80 dudes he has a bond with and they’ve been through a lot.

Who’s to say he won’t gel with his new teammates. Those bonds/friendships weigh just as heavy as a coach.

The thing I never got about Caleb Downs is the kid was already established here. He had 100 combined tackles in 2023 as a true freshman. I really don't understand the point of leaving when the new scheme has the potential to make Downs an even bigger playmaker in the scheme. He's a first down draft pick no matter who is coaching him in college.

Relationships matter. Not having Saban coaching every day is a loss but going to Columbus, Ohio isn't going to get you Saban as your coach nor Athens, Georgia.

It’s money and only money.

I don’t think the Downs family is all about the money. That’s not known to be their character, plus they already have another son in the NFL. They’re doing just fine financially.

All of that makes perfect sense but don’t get your hopes up guys. He could have been retweeting it because it’s directed at him and he’s trolling. Who knows?

The Mbakwe tweet is exciting but I’m hoping that’s Ryan Williams related.

Give me Williams over Downs if I had to choose

Perhaps but what if he’s getting x amount at Alabama and after coach retires the hyenas start coming around saying we can give you 2x? I mean, people can say it isn’t about the money but it’s usually all about the money.

So, my GA buddy who is on a bunch of pay wall sights claims CD is in Athens and moved in. They haven’t announced because they are sorting his classes out. So take that for what it’s worth.

What if Josh suffers a career threatening injury in the off-season? Or Caleb while he is in college?

They like money. Everybody likes money. As much as you can get. Doesn't say anything about their character necessarily.

And whether you believe him or not, Boz claims that he was directly involved in the NIL deal that we offered him, and they were outbid.

Oh, I 100% expect Downs to not be in Alabama in week or less. I'm just grousing because it really doesn't matter where he plays, he's a future all-pro. It's the money.

Why not go play for a Georgia team that will likely win a title next year.

At least it’s not Georgia. Hate to lose him, but also getting a little chuckle that Kirby struck out on him twice

His new safety coach was a co-DC at Indiana last year. Do all coaches come from IU? .
