Fans around the country, including UW fans, are fully convinced that Alabama football will crash and burn under his watch. Or they hope. It feels like Saban being hired all over again.

The more I read about this center commit the more stoked I get about him.

He seems to have freaking upper body strength and that "Nick Gentry" type motor that never stops. Plus already knowing the system and being able to make calls is all the much better.

It’s mostly about the portal, slight railroad but we are fine. As kids commit or de commit I will update page 1.

But who at Bama manages the NIL for us? How does a value get put on a player. Does the player have to ask for it or do the coaches and NIL person approach a player. At first I did not think incoming freshmen could get NIL until they signed and were established. Now it looks like they are signing them up prior to ever playing a down. Anyone know. And does KD have a say so in NIL $ going to a player to keep him from portalling out

I'm not an insider, but I'll tell you my understanding, which is based on comments I've read here and elsewhere. There is an NIL organization that is affiliated with the University. This NIL distributes money to current players on the team on a more or less equal basis to retain them and maintain team unity. KD would certainly have input into those decisions. Since they're already signed, this doesn't put us at odds with NCAA rules. Then there are other NIL collective(s) that are not affiliated with the University, these can pay elite current players extra NIL (and presumably also recruits, as long as they are careful in wording their NIL deals). KD or anyone associated with the University can have no direct dealings with NIL regarding recruits. The philosophy favors retention of proven players. At least that's how I understand it, Boz or someone else probably knows better.

Remember he is undersized

William Vlachos was a good center. He was "undesized" too but the frickin' guy would push dudes around. They called him The Battle Dwarf or some such shite.

I remember him being a bit of a bad arse. First team All SEC in 2011 and I think he started two straight seasons. He was 6'1 and weighed less than 300 lbs.

John hannah was 6'2, 265, and would still have dominated today. The man knew how to dominate people. He would decleat guys who were 6 inches taller and 60 pounds heavier in a regular basis.

Not sure why we are worried about him being "undersized" 9 months from the season starting. All these weights are lies anyways

Perfect addition for the new blocking scheme at a position of need.

I’d argue this was the biggest position of need on the roster even after all the portal losses.

When you hear someone complain he’s only 285 it’s a huge red flag they don’t understand the new blocking scheme DeBoer runs IMO.

Bama needed a C who can pull and play immediately at an elite P5 level and now we have one that already understands his responsibilities and that the staff is comfortable with.

No matter what they say, they Really wanted DeBoer entering the B1G.

You don’t offer a guy $9.5M if you don’t believe he is absolutely elite.

They are a tier below the semi-blue bloods and were willing to pay 9 million

They know they don’t have a natural recruiting base or elite NIL system up there and this guy was winning at an unprecedented pace anyways despite inheriting what was not even a top 25 roster when he took over.

Will it work at Bama? TBD

Thanks

Also contributions to the NIL or collective are not tax deductible.

I just read Jabbar’s interview. It could be how the questions were asked but it doesn’t sound like he’s coming. It sounded more like he just likes CKD.

Yeah but offensive linemen were all smaller back then. I think the average size in the early 70's was 260lbs or so.

Guys like Vlachos and this new kid though are a testament to strength, coaching and especially body mechanics.

Many times, centers are former wrestlers. They are short and squatty in stature. Getting leverage on an opponent is their game. Having a beast like Landon Dickerson at center was a rare thing.

Yep. I marked him off the wish list when he went to visit Texas. He does need to verify his contract and make sure that Lambo isn't really Dodge K-car.

Leverage is a helluva thing, isn't it fellas?

Booker, Brailsford, Roberts sounds like an awesome IOL.

I would really like Kalepo, as well.

Those Lambo’s and Ferraris are just for show. Recruits can sit in them and take pictures. Post on social media. That’s it.
