That TE is like the main type of player ID always try to get on NCAA 2014.

6'7" TE who runs a 4.6 and throw to him 20 times a game

We need someone to lock that up so Fitz can stay at Nickel. I've seen so far AA, Mayden, and Sheffield working with 1's outside.

I'm encouraged by the fact they saw fit to give Mayden a long look with the 1's the other day. Speaks to his potential even if he doesn't manage to win a job this year.

Alabama’s players and coaches hit the practice field Tuesday morning for its first two-a-day of fall camp in the team’s sixth practice. The Crimson Tide practiced in full pads on a sunny, 84-degree afternoon.

Here are several tidbits from the Crimson Tide’s first practice of Tuesday session in Tuscaloosa:

- Inside linebacker Keith Holcombe was not spotted during either of the two media viewing periods.

- David Cornwell (foot) was once again limited during the two media viewing periods. When he was rolling out to throw a pass, the redshirt sophomore took things slow compared to his other quarterback teammates. The order with Cornwell off to the side, however, did not change withCooper Bateman leading the group, followed by Blake Barnett and Jalen Hurts.

- Freshman wide receiver Trevon Diggs wore a crimson No. 7 jersey and practiced solely with the safeties for a second consecutive day. Senior safetyEddie Jackson was spotted close to Diggs on a variety of instances during Tuesday’s viewing period, shadowing the first-year player and talking to him after Diggs completed a rep in the defensive backfield.

- When the secondary worked on its nickel package, redshirt freshmanKendall Sheffield lined up at cornerback with the rest of the first-teamers.Marlon Humphrey was the other corner, while Minkah Fitzpatrick moved inside to Star. Jackson and Ronnie Harrison were the safeties. The Tide continues to move players around in the secondary, especially at cornerback.

- Freshman Shyheim Carter worked at both corner and Star with the second nickel grouping. Freshman Jared Mayden and Anthony Averettwere the second-team corners, and Tony Brown and Laurence Jones were the safeties.

- Outside of the first practice, what has appeared to be the first-team offensive line has stayed the same. From left to right: Cam Robinson,Lester Cotton, Ross Pierschbacher, Bradley Bozeman and Jonah Williams.

- When the tight end group worked with the quarterbacks, they broke up into two lines. O.J. Howard, Miller Forristall, Truett Harris and Hunter Bryant were in one line, while Hale Hentges, Brandon Greene, Irvin Smith and Cam Stewart made up the other. Bateman and Barnett threw to one tight end line, and Cornwell and Hurts tossed passes to the opposite one.

- A few reporters have already pointed it out, but Stewart, a walk-on tight end, stands out in a group of physically-imposing players. At 6-foot-8, 254 pounds, the former Padres minor leaguer is difficult to miss on the field.

*** What’s next: Following player interviews, Alabama will practice for a second time tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Gonna take Barnett or Hurts winning the team over in the scrimmages for Bateman not to lead this team.

Alabama’s players and coaches returned to the practice field Tuesday evening for its second two-a-day of fall camp and the team’s seventh practice. The Crimson Tide practiced in shells on a cloudy, 81-degree night.

Here are several tidbits from the Crimson Tide’s second Tuesday practice in Tuscaloosa:

- Inside linebacker Keith Holcombe, who missed the first of two two-a-day practices this morning, was out on the field Tuesday evening. He moved through individual drills with no apparent limitations.

- The inside linebacker groupings remained as they have for most of fall camp with Reuben Foster and Shaun Hamilton leading the position group.Rashaan Evans and Holcombe were behind them, followed by Keaton Anderson, Joshua McMillon, Ben Davis and Lyndell Wilson. The two freshmen have looked like anything but that in their first practices.

- Freshman running back Joshua Jacobs appeared to be limited on the far side of the field, as he stood at the back of the tailback line and out of drills.Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris continue to lead the running backs.

- Just like this morning, Kendall Sheffield was the corner opposite Marlon Humphrey when the defensive backs lined up in their nickel and dime packages. Minkah Fitzpatrick and Shyheim Carter handled Star duties.

- In what looked like a partial dime drill, sophomore Ronnie Harrison lined up at the Money, or sixth defensive back, spot. He and Laurence Jonesoccupied that position during what appeared to be a brief dime drill Tuesday.

- An NFL scout from the San Francisco 49ers watched Alabama’s evening practice.

*** What’s next: Alabama will be back on the practice field Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Today's practice will begin to show who really wants it. First day after a 2 practice day. Everybody will be tired and sore. Time for the leaders to step up and be an example of how to keep the energy up when you don't feel excited to be there.

Didn't Mack Wilson have knee surgery? Is he expected to contribute this year?

I believe it was a meniscus tear. Many people can actually play with this injury if need be but surgery is such a quick turnaround I can see why they'd go ahead and elect to do it for a freshman

@AaronSuttles:
Saban on Brandon Greene: We let him focus on being a tight end. He's a mismatch player (as a blocker).

Saban: I feel a lot better of the tight end position. I like the way the young guys are playing (Forristall/Irv Smith).

TUSCALOOSA -- Following the team’s eighth practice of fall camp, Alabama head coach Nick Saban provided an injury update on one of the Crimson Tide’s newest members that has been limited the past couple of days.

Joshua Jacobs appeared to limp a bit and was limited in Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices.

“He has a little thigh contusion, but I think he’ll be just fine in a day or two,” Saban said Wednesday evening. “He’s day-to-day. He actually practiced one day with it, then we decided not to practice him for a day. So we’re just trying to get some of the swelling out, and I think he’ll be fine.”

Jacobs, a recently-enrolled freshman, did not participate in the running backs’ individual drills during the media viewing periods of practice, standing off the side of the tailback line, watching his teammate progress through drills.

Jacobs arrived at Alabama this summer after being one of the program’s final commitments in the 2016 recruiting cycle -- a cycle that ended with another No. 1-ranked class. The 5-foot-10, 204-pound freshman was the No. 11 all-purpose back and No. 4 player in the state of Oklahoma in 2016, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
