It's pretty common to have conflicting reports. Maybe Freddie was contacted and didn't tell that family member. There were conflicting reports on Jimmy Lake too. It happens.
Eta: Tim Watts has said he doesn't expect Kool to be coaching at Bama next season, but he didn't totally rule it out.
Eta: Steve Roberson (247-Miss St) says he was told Roach was contacted by Saban but wants to stay at Ole Miss for now.

Yeah, I have seen several tweets from various reporters that we make a run at him. He just signed an extension, but he may be worth some extra money.

Sounds like a bunch of bullshite to me. I can understand the SEC preventing Freeze from being hired but I can't imagine anyone in Tuscaloosa blocking Saban from hiring who he wants.

I’d hate to see him end up at either one of those schools. Saban should just go to them and say, “My six national championships say that I should hire Bo. A’ight.” And walk out.

No it sounds like people doing their job and making sure 2002 or 2007 never happens again. I don’t care if it’s overkill, I don’t want to ever go down a road again that leads to “staring down a barrel”.
