Edit*

Todd Bates joined Clemson last year so he's not responsible for building that DL.

Dan Brooks and Marion Hobby built and stocked their DL. After their NC win, the former retired and Hobby took the Jags DL job.

Todd Bates was DL Coach for this past season only and was actually demoted to DT Coach with Lemanski Hall taking over DEs.

Henderson looks really great but would love to help a former player like Roach. I know his Bama ties aren't the main reason but just wonder if Tosh could help him out with actual coaching techniques for the DL.

Maybe I'm just over the top the other way because of the decades of "played for Bryant" stuff, but I truly do not care one bit if a guy played here.

Am I the only one who expects to see Freeze hired and then to hear that a couple of ole miss guys are transferring in?

I agree with you. I cringe every time I hear it

Damn dude, I didn't even think of that. Now I'm going to be really disappointed if this doesn't happen.

Don't they have a couple DL we could use that are eligible to transfer ?

Good call.

I mean, it is nice when guys that played at Bama turn out to be great coaches and come back to Bama but it should never be considered of any importance in the hiring process. That's how you end up with a D line coach leading you into devastating probation.

Hiring Freezus is not a prerequisite to getting transfers from OM. It may even be a deterrent.

Try this sauce I seent somewhere else

quote:

Freddie Roach turned the job down

Tosh wants to coach DL and hire a LB coach.

Eric Henderson is the leader to be DL, if Bama hires a DL coach.

The players favorite new coach is Pete Golding.

I can’t believe for a second Roach was offered the job to turn down. He’s not ready yet.

I believe all but the Roach part.

Unless they lowballed the hell out of him, No way I believe he was offered and declined.

No way Roach declined an opportunity to come coach at his alma mater.

So it is:

Bates
Henderson
Roach

Tosh moves to DL coach and then we get a LB coach (i.e. Lance Thompson) Our Billy Martin like coach. He's been hired and left 3 times. He is a elite recruiter

I want to point out few things...
We've had former players turning down a job at Alabama in the past... It is believable when Roach will turn down a job at Alabama... Someone of you need to understand that Not all coaches will jump at a chance to work with Saban...

I believe Saban could move Tosh to DL and hire a quality LB coach, but I don't think that will happen.

Saban gave him his first major job and he'd be leaving an inferior program with NCAA penalties being enforced.

He wasn't offered the job, because he wouldn't have turned it down...
