Burns has been hinting at retirement for a while.

Here's my concern with Burns: I realize his recruiting has tailed off, but not only has he produced the studs coming out of our backfield in an unbroken string, how many fumbles have we had over the years? How many Heismans after over 100 years without ONE? How many have gone on to pro careers? My point is, his on-field teaching more than made up for his recruiting shortfalls. I don't want to lose that.

I’ve already seen Bo Davis on a few preliminary hot boards. I just don’t get it. No off the field recruiting will hurt for 2-3 years.

No kidding. If we are going to bring Davis back we might as well have told Dunbar he no longer has to recruit to try and keep him.

What they can do is Let Bo come in a off the field position.. Remember he can only call... and tweet.. he can't visit them.. So, I wouldn't worry about the relationship apart.. it's only 12 months... he wouldn't be that behind. Ya'll may be over reacting a little.

What if we hired that little person that was an assistant to coach our DL. Our DL drills would be insane.

Davis is a non-starter. He's not worth the risk nor the time it would take him to get back up to speed in recruiting circles. We can do better. Let's give it a try. Davis ain't going anywhere for a year anyway.

Kevin Patrick did really good at NC State. Bradley Chubb was a beast

Someone said on this board a few weeks ago that Bo Davis has been on campus and he was called to give his take on Pete Golding. That's all you need to know that Bo Davis is in the Saban inner circle and will one day return to Tuscaloosa sooner or later.

Nick and compliance wouldn't bring back Bo unless they felt good about their process. Not being able to travel to see recruits actually play could be a problem (as the players position coach) but not being able to visit a player at/near NSD may be overblown. Hell Nick and staff wore out the U of A's planes these past 3 weeks and the results were not as we would have liked.

Is Bo Davis a really good football coach? Nick will answer that soon.

What do you guys know about Freddie Roach? He was the Director of Player Development here so I'm sure he's excellent with the kids...I'm not sure how well that translates into recruiting. And I'm not sure about his abilities as an actual DL coach, I haven't followed is career that closely.

Freddie was a very good DL coach for South Alabama and landed Souths first and only 4 star recruit. Brings a lot of energy.

Not that it matters, but just heard on JOX that Bo Davis was hired by the Detroit Lions. So even though he wasn't an option he's definitely out now.

good for Bo. I would bet he's back in college one day and he'll make more in college than he would in NFL.

Nice, glad we won't have to hear about hiring him anyone. Let's get some new blood like we are doing at the other positions
