Pretty sure the chance that Croom ever coached again at Alabama passed in 2003.

Is this Burns thing legitimate or just being thrown out there?

All I've seen is a couple of posts. One was by Boz: Burns is looking to retire soon. -- nothing about exactly when. Maybe he'll coach another season or two.

Saban loading up with Louisiana recruiters, which to me could lend some credence to the notion that Burns might not be around much longer. I know next year is also a huge year in Louisiana, though.

Burns has slowed down as a recruiter anyway, Napier was the big loss for the LA/AR/TX area. Dunbar is in that area too, but that dead horse has been beaten enough.

Have to get back in there, especially for 2019...

this is just a thought. but maybe saban is loading up on younger hard driving recruiters for LA, TX and FL because we are going to need to have a bigger presence in those states. with kirby locking down GA, which is no surprise. we have to up the ante in those recruit wealthy states.

And knowing how competitive Saban is, he doesn't want to make a habit of finishing 2nd to Kirby in recruiting....

Let the games begin.

Though GA has never been that great to us and the ones we do get it is always 50/50 it seems on how they pan out. Kirby hurts others like AU, UT, CU more then us. So really a blessing for Saban in a way.

This. I see it as Coach Saban amping up the efforts in LA, TX, etc. because other teams that have been raiding Georgia are going to be forced to expand their recruiting territories thanks to Kirby.

GA produces about 40-ish 4 & 5-star players per year. UGA has the upper hand, but can only sign 25/class. So yeah, we'll likely continue to target only a very select few in GA each cycle.

I believe one of the things that helped Banks land the job was his experience as a RB coach. He may be being groomed to step into Burns role. Man, those are some big shoes to fill. He may have lost a couple of steps on the recruiting trail but when you look at his track record...from Bama’s first Heisman winner Mark Ingram all the way down to Najee Harris, the man has turned out some studs. Historically great ones. We are going to miss Burton Burns regardless of who takes his place.

There is a better than average chance Banks is a HC before Burns retires.

He's talked about as HC material, joining the staff is a finishing class of sorts for him...

I am guessing the last position may not be filled until after NSD.

Agree. Sounds like someone we want has a bonus in his contract that is payable after NSD. Either that or Saban has decided to do the work they have in front of them now that has a deadline (NSD) and then deal with that last position when he can give it more time. I don't know. Just guesses.

Obviously waiting until after NSD to announce Freeze.
