2015 Maryland (Interim HC)
2016 Alabama (OA)
2017–pres Alabama (Co-OC/WR)

Saban has spoken very highly of Locksley's offensive acumen and coaching abilities. He's coached and coordinated defense and ST for a few years and offense about 20 years, including every position. He had successful OC stints at Illinois and Maryland.

While at UA he's worked and shared knowledge with Saban, Kiffin, Sarkesian, Werner, Weinke and Daboll. It appears Freeze may also add to the knowledge base. And of course, Locksley already knows the Process, culture, philosophies, systems, playbook, terminology, players, staff, conference competion, etc.

Some itt say they're not excited about the hire. Idk why. All things considered, I think it's a very smart move to promote Locksley to OC. It provides for continuity and enhancement of the offense. Saban will likely (and should) do the same on the defensive side, promoting Lupoi.

Chip Long is from Birmingham and played at UNA.

Chuck Long is from Oklahoma and played at Iowa in the 1980s.

Saban obviously thinks Locksley is an elite recruiter. No other reason to promote him under these circumstances.

Glass half full here haha.

Edit: F u downvoter.

If it’s Locksley, and if it’s true that Saban is pushing for Freeze as an on field coach, could Freeze be the QB coach? Apparently the SEC doesn’t like the idea, but according to CBS, they can’t stop it.’

They also mentioned that Saban was getting some pushback on this from within the program, if you can believe it.

Locksley is a great hire. Helps us shows stability to parents and recruits, gives us a boost in recruiting and he hasn't shown me anything to believe he isn't good at game planning or play calling.

I also don't believe he'll bolt after a year of success, so that's great as well.

I'm sure the same people who said Kiffin was a horrible idea are saying Locksley is one.

He will do well and you'll pretend you weren't against his hire.

Chip from what I was told didn’t interview well (mentioned that before). Things that factored in to that was his attitude and list of demands. Guy wanted to be the guy before he was the guy. That’s an earned status at Bama.

Nick interviewed Chris Hatcher many years back for the OC but the story was Chris wanted to bring his own OL Coach....Nick didn't agree.

Not to my knowledge. According to Suttles and Boz, Saban wants to hire him in an on-field staff capacity, but there's resistance at UA and by Sanky. I figure it'll be resolved one way or the other soon.

Is it possible that if we bring Freeze in that he could be in the booth calling plays and Locks be on the field relaying the info?

Not yet...I'm guessing that IF/WHEN Saban gets his way and he does get hired..it will take a bit longer to be finalized etc. simply because of the show cause, which as I understand it is strictly tied to him being a HC and nothing else, which is a very interesting loophole that I'm sure after this hire (again WHEN/IF it happens) will be closed, sewed up and melded together with the quickness

I'm down with Locksley for the continuity on the offensive side of the ball with all these new coaches coming in...he's got a lot of experience obviously and ties in with the general physical gameplan of a pass/power run balance. I'm hoping for a WR/TE position coach job possibly for Freeze (if he is able to be hired) he's done a realy good job scripting a passing game and developing those positions primarily at OM (looking at the silver lining of the shite cloud obviously here lol)

I like Scott hire too since his acumen as a recruiter comes recommended, as a position coach he's a young guy who can learn from the best...so I like it.

Hard for me to imagine that Locksley is still here if he isn't given play calling.

I suppose that's a possibility. But, I think Freeze would likely only be around for one season, so Locksley will probably be the OC and play caller. Jmo.
