I doubt that I vote for either one! At this point I'm seriously looking at Lew Burdette and Stacy George! One of them will get my vote!

The ads from Kay, Lindy, and Tim are insulting. Just playing to the lowest common denominator and do nothing to address issues in our state.

That's a symptom of one political party dominating a state's government for too long. All you have to do as a candidate is appeal to the lowest common denominator every election and then never make any changes when you win. Both sides do it.

Agreed. Whoever is running the governor’s campaign should be straight up embarrassed. It’s pathetic.

I guess they spend all of their energy preventing the public from seeing just how old and feeble she is.

No love for Springville mayor Dave Thomas for Governor?

quote:

Thomas said allowing Alabamians to keep more money in their pockets will mean more money will be spent and more businesses will see success. He said he has an economic plan to replace some revenue from cutting taxes. That plan includes expanding hemp cultivation, adding bamboo, and legalizing and decriminalizing cannabis.

“The propaganda that people have relied on for decades has proven to be false,” said Thomas. “Quite frankly, it seems absurd to me that a room full of people are going to decide that Americans can’t take a seed, plant it in the ground, and grow a plant, no processing whatsoever required, and yet it’s illegal. And yet we’ve got an opioid epidemic from coast to coast using pharmaceuticals that are legal.”

While admitting that he smokes pot himself, Thomas said he knows firsthand how beneficial the plant can be. He said he has been at odds with people in his own family because of the bad reputation marijuana has.

“We’ve had this discussion for many, many years in my family,” said Thomas. “Honestly, it’s been a point of contention in my family, mainly because of the illegality of it.”

Thomas said his life is proof that people can be successful while using cannabis.

“Whether it’s cannabis, or a vaccine, or alcohol, if you want it, knock yourself out,” said Thomas. “If you don’t, don’t. But don’t sit there and tell somebody, a grown adult, what they can and can’t do with their health, with their own personal lives.”

When it comes to a lottery or gambling, Thomas said he would support a bill that didn’t include the “good ole boy” system.

Looks like Lew Burdette is getting on TV. Hope he can get some traction to make this race interesting.

Seems Burdette has gotten a Big influx of money as I’ve seen a huge increase in his signs around town, along with a few billboards.

There were Burdette signs all over Tuscaloosa on Saturday at A-Day.

I've made it clear in this thread that I'm for him and he's still probably a long shot, but it is kind of refreshing to see a campaign in Alabama not completely play to the lowest common denominator.

quote:

Jones said his plan to improve Alabama starts with individuals, “the greatest resource in the state,” taking care of themselves.

“I want you to vote for me but that’s not quite the agenda,” Jones said. “I want to talk to the people of Alabama and I want them to know that leadership starts with leading yourself.

“It’s concentric circles. You start with yourself. You branch out to your family. You branch out to groups like this, your church groups, whatever you’re involved in. And that’s how you transform a state. And that’s how you transform a nation.”

Jeff Poor recently called Durant "undecided-lite" and that's spot on IMO. The only Senate candidate I see with any voter enthusiasm is Britt. She's been to all 67 counties at least once.

I drove up 31 from Evergreen to Montgomery today and saw Lew signs everywhere.

Though Burdette is a long shot, he's got my vote as well.
He visited my way (Muscle Shoals) couple months ago. He made an impression on all of us.
Very classy, inspiring, no mudslinging coming from this gentleman.

Good profile on Lindy Blanchard. She doesn’t have much of a shot at this point, but she seems far more genuine than Ivey and James. Have to wonder what her numbers would look like had she focused on her back story and not her ties to Trump through her ambassadorship.

I'm the son of a single mother and an immigrant. My mother was a coal miner for Jim Walter Resources back in the day. Is that a good enough profile for politics? Just wondering.

Lew Burdette has an amazing story of being left for dead as well. I know he's a longshot but he has my vote

If Ivey can be kept under 50%, all bets are off in a runoff. Who would have the best shot against her 1 on 1?
