We love pork as long as it's coming to Alabama, right?
I don't like Mo Brooks, but let's not pretend Katie Britt is some real fighter. Like Shelby, she will sit back and be perfectly fine with the status quo in Washington and vote for pork projects that will send money to Alabama and keep the supply of mindless voters.

Not Alabama politics related, but I figured this was the best place for this.
I’m in Arizona and I watched a debate tonight between five Republican candidates, one of whom will run against Mark Kelly in November.
The final question was “Are you a sun devil or a wildcat?” One of the candidates, Jim Lamon, said “I played LB two years for Coach Bryant at Alabama”!
Has anyone ever heard of this guy? Apparently he was born and raised in Alabama.

Wildcat is easy answer, can't believe he blew it. Not a fan of debates.

I've already broken down her record with the Business Council of Alabama in this thread. I'm not going to do it again. It's not a super long thread yet so it shouldn't be hard to find.

ETA: "If the Senate is ever in need of a 60th vote for another gun control bill, it wouldn't surprise me for her to be it."
.....................................
"Britt pledged to introduce legislation shielding firearm manufacturers and dealers from financial targeting, sponsor nationwide concealed carry reciprocity, and work to legislatively prohibit the implementation of “red flag” laws.
“Gun grabbers use so-called “red flag laws” as a gateway to push their disarming agenda,” the candidate stated. “In reality, a “red flag law” is an abridgment of the Second Amendment and can be abused to take away the right to self-defense with no due process.”
Additionally, she announced her intentions to end the $200 transfer tax on rare guns levied under the National Firearms Act.
Britt, whose private sector experience includes the practice of law, vowed to author an amicus brief in support of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association’s case against New York’s Second Amendment restrictions.
According to Britt, the Second Amendment serves as a “critical check” against government tyranny."

Voting for the gun control legislation that passed this week would have been consistent with everything you quoted. Nothing they passed this week would have been in opposition to her quoted statements that seem to be from a campaign site because it pretends she has "private sector experience."

introduce legislation shielding firearm manufacturers and dealers from financial targeting
I have no doubt she would do this. She's going to be a Chamber of Commerce shill. She will be in favor of anything that helps big business. In this case, I agree with her. In other cases, I surely wouldn't. For example, the BCA's opposition to Alabama's transgender athlete ban during her tenure as CEO of the BCA.
We had the option of Mo Brooks, who would have also supported shielding firearms manufacturers and dealers from financial targeting, but without the other baggage that comes from always propping up business like opposition to transgender athlete bans. I don't know why businesses oppose this, but apparently it's a thing.
quote:
sponsor nationwide concealed carry reciprocity
This will never happen, but at least it sounds nice.
quote:
work to legislatively prohibit the implementation of “red flag” laws
Pretty easy to say stuff like this when you've got a Supreme Court that is already itching to overturn "red flag" laws. See Alito's concurrence to the 9-0 unanimous "Caniglia v Strom" decision from last year.

Here is what fellow Republican House members said about Brooks:
"Brooks, is a colorful character, almost comedic. During his almost 40 years in Alabama politics, he has built a legacy as a right-winger, an ineffective ideological gadfly."
"He has never passed a bill in his 16 years in the Legislature or 12 years in Congress. He is unbelievably unashamed of his lack of effectiveness or achievement."
"Brooks and I served together in the Alabama House of Representatives for 16 years. He was immediately recognized as someone who wanted to accomplish nothing for his Huntsville district."
..................................
AGAIN, go to North Alabama and ask his Neighbors about him!..how about this?
"In contrast, Brooks, her opponent in the runoff, barely carried his home county of Madison by 39% to 36%. In adjacent Limestone County, a suburb county of Madison, the vote count was 7,130 for Brooks to 7,100 for Britt."

I was replying to someone else, and we were comparing Britt vs Brooks.
If you have a problem with that, too bad! BETTER IDEA! GTF outta the thread..it's easy just click the little arrow at the top left of your screen.

You have made your point quite clear - you are a Mitch McConnell republican. Not far from a Mitt Romney republican. We get it
