If 300k Bama fans donated $100 to St Jude Foundation they might save a child’s life or make life better for some kids that’s battling for their lives fighting cancer.
Be a cold day in hell before I would donate my money like that to win a national championship. Not saying I’m right, just saying something’s are more important to me than football.

You are right, but let's not get into the discussion of how messed up healthcare is in this county.
Alabama football is more of a hobby, what is it to a person to spend $100 on their hobby?

Pretty sure we've spent a solid chunk of change this offseason on retaining guys who could have left (which is basically what Ohio State did last year).

I picked ND vs Ohio St for the national championship before the cfp started...and I'd rather see ND win, mainly because of Riley Leonard and Marcus Freeman, but I just don't think ND has the skill guys at WR to really threaten the OSU defense. They'll sellout to stop the run. Notre Dame's only chance is if their defense plays insane and gets a couple of turnovers deep in osu territory. The ND offense is going to have to pound it with Love and Leonard and then take some deep shots to whoever they have at WR that can run. They're not going to be able to run wide on Ohio St. And I'm not sure their OL can give Leonard enough time to even take some deep shots. Hope I'm wrong, but I'll go:
Ohio St 34
ND 17
Ohio St 34
ND 17

If you donated the money you use to pay for internet services and cable/streaming you could also help someone and save a life.
Why not start there?

Program makes more than enough money off of me for tickets, food, TV contract, and other aspects of game day. I’m not donating $100 when the overhead is already there to support it and now there’s the salary cap through the NIL lawsuit settlement.
If you want to donate, be my guest. I just don’t see the rationale in asking middle income folks to pony up a subscription service to cover your own payroll you have no troubles covering
And if they need the payroll from non university sources, they’ve got millions of donated funds every year they can ask to wealthy donors to re-allocate. All you need to do is shift the budget around, it’s easy. That 20M Mr Moneybags has going towards the library can now be put into NIL collective to circumvent self funding and you can reallocate 20M from the AD to the library. Problem solved.

That’s a fricking stupid argument YStar. I usually agree with your against the grain stuff.
He pays that to receive a specific and guaranteed service. Throwing our money at NIL collectives corresponds with nothing concrete or, in the grand scheme of things, important. I’ll pay for a ticket to a game that I know is going to happen.
I’m not going to pay for an 18 year old to buy a car that he’s going to take with him to Columbus, Ohio.

Yup, same thought process. I’m not paying John Mara $200 so he can save $200 of his own revenue on signing some kid out of the seventh round. He has the money for it already and is making a profit

Is this your way of telling home to stay off of the internet?

I didn’t say I was right, I just said I’d rather donate my money to a worthwhile cause like that and I do.
Yes I could do away with the internet and phone service and my hot rods and a lot more. But I guess I’m to selfish too

I wouldn’t say Bama football is a hobby. My street rods is a hobby or guns or bowling or hunting and fishing.
Donating to a college football program is more of an investment to me and wanting something in return or an expectation in an end result.
Boosters probably are not appreciated by the normal fan. They spend a lot of money on a program in a specific area for the whole fan base to enjoy. They’ve been very successful in business usually and give back for whatever reasons. I appreciate that as a fan, they don’t have to but they do and never get credit much from the general public

No it's actually a very direct point which highlights the hypocrisy. Which is why it's grating for some to hear.

They are paying to receive a service as well. No differently when all these coaches wages blew up and all of them are earning $7-12 million annually.
Again, no one has put a gun to anyone's head and forces them to pay for NIL, buy a ticket or watch a game.
Those who do so will till they don't want anymore. Those who don't won't.
When these coaches are making $10 million a year and have been doing so for some time now it comes off extremely hypocritical to draw the line only now the players are taking advantage of this same stupid moronic system.

This was my point.
If you choose to do so. Do it.
If you choose not to. Don't.
However that poster was damning those who do saying there are better causes to put money as if we don't all determine what we desire to put our own money.
So if a lot of Bammers want to donate $100 to NIL and not a hospital? They aren't bad people for that FFS.

Damning maybe stretching what was actually said. It’s fine if you interpreted that way, but to try and convince that’s what I meant is BS.

This fricking guy trying to act like he's not part of the reason Saban retired. frick him.

Bond putting the Bama jersey on there feels weird
The guy publicly said he told DeBoer to frick off and never responded to him after going to Texas for the money
If Downs did it I wouldn’t really care, I get that decision given Saban was his main draw and he was close between OSU and Bama coming out. But Bond after chasing the money twice and having to be reeled back in once? Yeah, no

A Iron Bowl legend.
Too bad him and Brooks didn't finish their college careers at Alabama. Hurts too, but he was more understandable.
