Missed this thread and just posted something similar on another.

I’ve never really wanted him as Bama‘s HC, but it is refreshing to see him, actively coaching on the sidelines like he’s involved in the game instead of just watching…

Not that the job is going to be imminently open, but I would take Dabo with one stipulation. He would be told, not asked his opinion, from the start that we will compete at the highest level of NIL that we can scrape up the cash for and that we will go to the transfer portal as much as necessary to fill needs.

Look, I don’t like the way things are right now any more than the rest of you, but if you’re not going to swim in that pool you’re not going to succeed, period. He can make a stand for truth, justice, principle and the American way at Clemson, not at Alabama.

I don’t get the hatred for him by some Bama fans. Yes he can do the aw shucks routine but he’s a championship coach with top tier Bammer pedigree. He’s only 55 years old too.

I don’t hate that dude at all. One hell of a football coach. He had that program at a high level for a long time now, and they were poop before he got there.

Give a dog his due

He has kept Clemson in the national discussion every year for a long time. And unlike DeBoer, Dabo was actually in the playoffs last year.

Why would Dabo come here?

We should have hired Kiffin.

There are a significant number of posters on this board who would never want Dabo, and it's all just because of his personality. I couldn't care less about that.

Yep. Stupidest shite I’ve ever seen. Those are some dumb sons of bitches- like legit retarded dumbasses.

And THAT is the only reason you don’t like him- the same coach who took over a nobody program and has won 2 National Championships and beat what many consider to the the GOAT Coach (and including what some consider would have been the GOAT’s GOAT team had they beaten Clemson, that year) both times to do it.

But, yeah, he’s “HoLiEr ThAn ThOu,” (whatever the frick that bullshite means), so you wouldn’t want him.

You really are a stupid sumbitch… BrO.

There’s just one problem: Dabo ain’t coming! He’s built his own thing at Clemson and they love him. Why walk into the pressure cooker that is the Alabama job and be expected to right the ship almost immediately and the program is in disarray? I think Dabo has made peace with the idea that he’s in his retirement job and it’s not a bad thing. There was a time he would have come to Tuscaloosa but I believe that has come and gone.

Yeah, I don’t think he’d come to Alabama, either. Well, I say 25% chance.

He wasn’t first on my list. But, I damn sure wouldn’t have been disappointed if he had been hired.

I was just commenting/agreeing about the the irrational, seething hatred dumb shits within our fanbase have for the man. They all have to be less than 25 years old. If they don’t like him, they’d have fricking HATED Gene Stallings… because that’s from whom Dabo learned his whole schtick.

I prefer someone who has worked along side CNS or a former CNS player.
They know and understand what commitment, focus, accountability is.

Nah bro you’re dumb if you truly think Dabo has any shot going forward. He just lost to a sorry arse Brian Kelly who literally had to grind recruits.

Lanning is the future for the current landscape. Plucks top recruits in power programs backyards, keeps talent home, goes to the portal for key pieces.

Dabo may as well queue up Glory Days by Bruce. It’s unfortunate it came at Saban’s expense.

Like, Bro, I never said Dabo should, like, be our coach, Bro. Like, I wouldn’t have been disappointed with it, Bro. But, Bro, like all I know is he would be, like, infinitely better than this incompetent trash we have, now, Bro.

Like, Bro, I’ve only commented about the like, irrational hatred, Bro, that dumbasses have for Dabo, Bro. His resume like speaks for itself, Bro. He’s a good coach, Bro. But, dumbasses like don’t like his personality or that he’s religious, Bro. That’s fricking silly, Bro.

Give DeBoer the Hail Mary of firing coordinators for another year to get the buyout down and then go hire Demeco

Demeco has spent 0% days in college football since playing his last game in the 2006 Cotton Bowl.

He's not leaving the NFL for UA.

What makes you think Kiffin is much of an improvement over Deboer? He took a Jackson Dart-led team and got embarrassed by a 4-win Kentucky, a shitty Florida team and an LSU team that Milroe decimated. Kiffin isn't the answer.

Lanning is still unproven and 0-2 vs Deboer. He got his dick smashed by UGA worse than Vandy did.

Heading into 2024, he was 7-5 against the top 25 with two of those wins coming against Colorado and Liberty. He may very well be the future but right now, he seems like another Deboer.
