I feel like we don't know a lot about UGA. They didn't look good against UK, but UK was desperate. They didn't look great for most of the Clemson game on offense, but Clemson has a solid D.

I could see UGA showing that they don't have the skill players they've had in the past and that Beck struggles while the defense gets beaten by big plays. I could also see the defense for UGA being very stingy, creating turnovers, and Beck finding some guys open that other QBs haven't been able to connect with.

I have no idea what to expect.

I think this D is designed to limit big plays.

I don't disagree, but it seems several times in each of the first three games we've seen receivers behind the DBs. It's been pure luck that the opposing QBs weren't able to connect on those throws.

Beck will make those throws. I'm hoping these situations were just a function of young defensive backs not playing their position/technique properly, and that those issues have been corrected. If not, we can count on three or four explosive plays from Georgia, any or all of which could go for a touchdown.

Agree. I posted on our board the other day that last year was the same sorta thing (specifically in relation to the offense) in that early in the season we still had no clue what kind of team we were until practically halfway through the season.

-We were only up 17-0 on UT-Martin in the opener and looked pretty pedestrian doing it.
-0-0 after the 1Q against ball state. It was 21-0 with 2 minutes left before halftime.
-Losing 14-3 at half to carolina. Up 17-14 heading to the 4th and ended up scoring 24 total in the win.
-Scorless 1Q against AU and tied 10-10 at half. Held on for an ugly 27-20 win.

Even the biggest sunshine pumpers among us would say our offense looked crappy at that point and posed major cause for concern. But then things clicked and the lights turned on. 51 against Kentucky. 43 against Florida. 52 against OM. Our offense was much better later in the year.

As for this week, well obviously we don't have the proven playmakers on offense as last year. And it's still pretty "early" in the season so I don't expect us to really be humming yet. I DO think that we will look different though than what we've shown. I don't recall us taking many deep bomb shots yet. We have rarely thrown deep middle. We haven't run to the outside much. I have to imagine that our playbook will "open up" a little compared to what we've seen.

The big question though is how we'll respond to an improved opponent. Clemson is sorry so they aren't a good comparison for bama.

Yes, we will run more advanced-Golding techniques. More delayed safety blitzes, though we may throw in the rare all-DBs on a delayed blitz special!

I'm calling my shot:

Outz has a "Nick Walker vs UGa '08" game.

Yea I don't think Beck gets flustered in big games, but I do question how he will play against high level athletes without an overwhelming run game or some of the WRs/TEs he had last year.

So far the results have been pretty mixed.

Agreed.

It's also the first road game of the year for us which is always a bit worrisome.

Huh??? We had KY last week at Kroger field. As for the rest I agree. I don't think either we or Bama really know what kind of team we have so far. We will both know a lot more after Sat.

Yeah brain fart on my part, it happens with age. I can remember what happened in games 25 years ago but apparently don't remember the last one we just played

But a loss doesn't really do anything regarding our playoff chances other than mean we can only lose once or hell maybe even two more games

As far as making the playoffs..I agree. Loser of this game doesn't drop more than 4 spots

But it could be pivotal in a home field decision. Especially if the winner drops a game later and there has to be a decision on who's 4 and whose 5.

Not having Bowers and McConkey will be the difference.

Georgia still has some dudes at WR.

That Arian Smith guy probably scares me the most. He had a 50 yard catch in the last meeting, and is fast.

They might have some dudes, but they don't have dudes like Bowers and McConkeyner.
