Lanning. 50/50 takes it
DeBoer 100% takes it

DeBoer might be the best actual coach in the country given what he’s had to work with and his accomplishments.

He’s been an instant winner and cheat code everywhere he’s gone.

Only possible concern is culture fit and recruiting.

I really don't think Saban would recommend Lane for what it's worth.

It's obviously not apples to apples, but do y'all not remember how bad the culture fit was for Harsin? Recruiting in the South is a completely different animal than anything DeBoer has ever done.

Their relationship was so bad at the end that Saban asked him to leave in the prep week for the national championship. I don't think Kiffin sucking up on social media would have much impact on Saban. It seems to have helped endear him to some fans, but Saban doesn't seem prone to flattery.

Rees recommended him. He’ll rejoin us as OC to learn under Rees’ tutelage.

DeBoer sounds too similar to Dubose for me. No way in hell.

Should we erect Lane's statue now or after the hire is announced?

Getting Deboer would mean we get likely get Ryan Grubb too, Washington OC that Saban tried to hire last year. Really they're running Deboers offense though.

I said earlier DeBoer is 104 and 12 as a head coach. He won 3 national championships at Sioux Falls in 5 years coaching there.

Is he your dad or something? I'm not sure why anyone would have mentioned a position coach who was at the school for two years more than half a decade ago.

Why would DeBour come to the south, where he's never coached or recruited when he's got a lifetime pass at UW?

I don't see it either but that dude is a winner. I'd take him in a heartbeat

He would probably have success in the short term if he kept the roster mostly in tact, but what about after that?

I'm not sold on him as a long term solution.

No doubt. I think he inherited most of Washington's players, but he did bring in Penix himself, he was Penix's OC when they were both at Indiana.

His recruiting classes have been in the low 20s at Washington, which is trouble. I'm not sure where Washington usually ranks in that, but that definitely wouldn't cut it in the SEC.

After Saban flirted with Texas in 2013, it was nice knowing after that he was our coach until he retired. For the first few years there were the annual rumors, NFL return chatter, etc. But that went away for the most part 2014 on outside of opposing fans' wishful thinking. So the last 9 years have been nice...up until today.
