If we haven’t heard anything by Saturday we can assume he’s missed on whoever his candidates were and is now on to a second tier list.

And his second tier list should be the same guys that shot him down with a different pitch and more money.

Nick didn’t just say yes to Mal when he asked him to coach at Alabama. Greg needs to do his job here. He’s the caretaker for the greatest dynasty the sport has ever seen. You don’t settle. You make tier 1 call the damn cops and file trespassing charges

I just want Greg to do his homework. Pete Carroll was USC's fifth choice.

Sometimes the best candidate isn't a hc already winning at another major program.

Mal had the benefit of time, which Byrne doesn't have. Mal didn't have to deal with the ticking time bomb of the portal threatening to destroy not only the upcoming recruiting class, but the roster of current players on campus.

Mal had a lot of pressure to get it right, but Byrne has that same pressure (if not more) and he has a very short timeframe in which to get it done. Byrne doesn't have the luxury of being able to wear down his top candidates over a period of weeks.

His main goal should be securing a reasonable buyout. If it turns out horribly you have more time to get the right guy next time, especially with a low buyout. Look at how Texas and USC pulled off their last coaching changes.

only luxury he had is he's dealing with the Walmart of agents.

Honestly, you want to look at why coaching salaries and buyouts have gotten so insane. It's that a-hole. Now, there's no doubt another a-hole would've taken his place. Saban retiring is gonna get a shitload of coaches a raise.

That's true. Kirby, Sark, Lanning ect were all coordinators at their last job.

Shula is a senior offensive assistant with the Buffalo Bills...I think. He wasn't ready when he got the job. It was a weird time in Bama's history.

DeBoer, Norvell, nor Dabo are defensive coaches. I hope whichever one we hire keeps T Rob and possibly makes him DC. Would like to keep a couple of others on our defensive staff too. Would help curb some possible transfer/decommits I think.
