My Biggest fear is that Saban starts Hurts (too early I know)

If Saban does start Hurts over Tua, I personally think it would be a huge mistake. Hurts is not better than Tua in any phase of the game except his running ability (however, Tua did pretty well when he did run the ball). I hope Saban doesn’t get political in his decision. Carry on.

Tua is starting. And I was major Jalen fanboy until the end.

It seems many people are still traumatized from last season's bungled QB decision.

It's over now. Rest easy. Tua is the guy, and according to every insider account, the battle is for 2nd string - not 1st

My biggest fear is that Tua gets hurt

My biggest fear is that not having a true nose tackle in the middle will hurt our run defense. Then I fear that if Mack or Dylan get hurt in the middle we are screwed because there is shite behind them. Tua is the guy. He won the team a long time ago. It's over.

My question is will Mac Jones get any playing time this year. We go up 28-0 in the 2nd qtr of a game, then you bring in Hurts for a qtr, suddenly we are up 40-0 with 15 minutes still to play. Does CNS bring in Mac and actually let him pass or just do handoffs?

I'm not going to waste a millisecond wondering about that.

I have ZERO input in that decision and what I think about the decision means ZERO.

So,I'm just going to sit back, and enjoy the benefits of Coach Saban making those decisions.

I think Mac will be the "backup", and there will be a set of plays designed for Jalen to get on the field and contribute. But obviously if Tua got hurt then Jalen would be the starter. I expect to see Mac get to throw the ball and run the full offense in a few games this year though. He already redshirted and we know for a fact that Jalen will not be here next season so it would be insane to deny Mac the opportunity to work the offense in a real game setting.

I don't think that will happen because I think Hurts will appeal to Saban not to play in more than 4 games, so that he can use it as a redshirt year. The smartest thing, imo, is to save Hurts for the end of the year, in case Tua is injured.

That aside, I share the original poster's concern that Saban might choose Hurts in spite of the fact that Tua is light years better. I don't think this is going to happen, but I also can't imagine what makes Saban think Hurts even deserves a "competition" with Tua. I have read that Hurts was first yesterday in the qb drills. That's a little thing, but still a thing, and it's the point I make about Saban and his Jalen Hurts infatuation. It doesn't even make sense except in Bizarro Football World. Let's see if Tua is first today. If it's truly an equal competition (crazy as it seems), you'd think Tua deserves that recognition.

I assume #13 will get the start and #2 will get minutes as well. I don't expect #2 to have that shitty attitude when he comes into the game as Blake Barnett did once #2 took the controls. I believe #2 has more class about himself. We'll see.

Forget about Jalen and Tua. This is Mac Jones' team now.

my 2, CONCERNS, are the long term health of dylan and mac and the secondary. no doubt we have some really good young players. but that old, experience, thing.

If Tua starts, Mac is 2nd string because #1, Hurts will only want to appear in 4 games to save the redshirt, and #2, Mac is a better QB than Hurts.

Hurt was going to play until really a few days ago. Team was split Yada yada. Doesn’t look that way from what I’m hearing.
