Well he just boomed all over one of the most talented, disciplined, well coached defenses in the country

So maybe dry your tears and buy in

He looked phenomenal in the first half. I can’t figure out who to blame for the second half. Did Kirby really adjust that well, or did our staff handcuff Milroe?

I think we went into a shell and tried to protect that massive lead. I would say 70% of the offensive bullshite in the second half was play calling. During the game thread though some folks were pointing out Jalen's "hero ball" stuff and they were right.

In the second half, there were so many time disruptions - long stretches where Milroe sat on the sideline and lost his mojo. Kirby and the effective GA offense keeping the ball out of our olay-maker's hands, got us out of sync on offense

There were two drives in the second half that ended due to mistakes by someone other than Milroe. Haynes in open field failing to easily get 1 yard, and the TE bobbling a catchable ball leading to an INT.

I’m a little perplexed we didn’t try and run between the tackles more in the second half with the way UGA had sold out to stop the edge rush after halftime. Jam and Justice only carrying the ball a combined 11 times was a head scratcher and the interior of our OL is more than capable of handling the UGA DL.

The primary adjustment that UGA made on D late 2nd qtr or after half (I do not recall which) was to go to a 3/3/5 defensive set. This remove 1 DL and set the two OLB more on the edge. The best attack for that set should have been inside counter gamme but we did not go there.

They also went from playing 1/4"s deep to 1/2's deep to move up on the outside .

I saw this on X.... I have not validated the truthfullness of the below but seems plausible. Take it for what it's worth...

quote:

Jalen Milroe

Through four games in 2023:
- Pressure to sack rate: 34.1%
- Turnover worthy play rate: 6.4%
- Comp % : 56.4%

Through four games in 2024:
- Pressure to sack rate: 17.8%
- Turnover Worthy Play Rate .9%
- Comp %: 72.9%

They never will. Even if we go undefeated and will the first 12-team playoff they will still say we could have been better or done better.

These people suck and I'm sure their lives suck as well.

Meh, so far 2024 has been the polar opposite of “the same 2023 crap”.

I make no bones about being critical of Milroe. But there were always tangential issues that I wanted see get fixed before I could simply accept that he couldn’t do the job. OL play, bad snaps, Tommy Rees, and the lack of a true innovative OC/QB coach all contributed to his lack of development.

I always felt he had the skills. My gawd, the kid has some serious skills. I just didn’t know if Milroe was capable of accepting the coaching and translate that to being able to process that in real game time situations. I was very worried that Milroe hated the tag “dual-threat” and was trying to establish himself as some sort of Dan Fouts type QB, instead of playing within himself and a system that highlighted his talents.

Now we see what good OL play does for Milroe. We see what a good offensive scheme can do for him. My only “issue” with Milroe 2.0 at this point isn’t with Milroe himself. I’m a little worried about not using our RBs and the impact that will have down the road. But for now, there is ZERO doubt that Milroe, w/Deboer’s system, can be the best QB on the country.

Milroe proved to everyone why he's held onto the QB1 spot, even with a completely new coaching staff and system.

That pass to Miller was a DIME. Might be the best throw of his career imo. Just perfect. Herbstreit wouldn't shut up about it on the broadcast. He was blown away.

I still say Bama has the best QB situation in the country. If Milroe has to miss a few plays or time for any reason, I have every confidence in Simpson to deliver the ball to all these playmakers. There's no replacing Milroe's athleticism (he's a monster, just in time for Halloween) but Ty can still handle those QB keepers.

Bama's in good shape boys. If Milroe keeps up his level of play, this will be a very special year.

This is what I don’t understand. Why didn’t we start going inside? Proctor, Booker, and Brailsford should have at least been able to open up some running lanes for our RBs.
