Sounds like Lane Kiffen wasn’t blowing smoke on who was really calling plays. I bet Nick did not want to lose T Rob with the Auburn opening so this is a mutual parting with Steele leaving…that way we can promote T Rob.
Obviously I’m just making a bunch of assumptions but it all adds up.

This deal was done before the plane left T-town for the Rose Bowl.
Freeze had to take 2nd choice in Charles Kelly because Nick is promoting Trob.
Bo coming back to be Co-Defensive assistant.
