Is that not Sonny Smith? Wife’s family are barn fans. They hate Bercham. He wines more than Stan White.

Love Wrightsell, but I think he's getting away from what he does best. He's best at being a catch and shoot guy. He must have been told by the NBA guys that he needs to show that he can drive and score or something because he's passing up far too many catch and shoot opportunities to drive and try to create.
As far as Bethea, its easy to see the potential. But when you come into the game, and the first possession you shoot a 30 footer without a single pass, and miss badly. You might as well just walk back to the end of the bench and sit. Bethea wants to contribute to badly that he isn't willing to just play within the offense. When he does, he helps this team tremendously. He's just forcing things with the ball in his hands right now, but I'm still extremely hopeful for him. Reminds me of the Kennedy Winston year that he joined the team.

Wrightsell is averaging 10ppg on 25min per game and shooting an abysmal 26% from 3. At some point you've got to find someone to give you more productive minutes.

Most well rounded player on the team after Philon. I don't think he's quite the defensive menace Mo could be, but he's as good or better at everything else so the swap was a net positive. Mo gives you zero playmaking or shooting whatsoever, and Allen is skilled enough at both that he already gets to play a little point forward at times.

He also played great defense on MoD last game. Despite Mo being significantly taller. Its not just about offense. Trelly is a good defender on opposing 2s and 3s. Something we missed last year.

Trelly defending Mo D?
What I saw was Trelly getting out of position defensively a lot and Oweh and Lowe kind of having a field day. Lowe and Oweh are difficult to guard and im not throwing it all on him because he wasn't always guarding Oweh. Houston was covering Oweh a lot as well and that is just a mismatch of epic proportions. He plays his a$$ off but his athletic ability has limitations. Philon was in foul trouble quick and Holloway is not a great defender against strong skilled guards. Just an honest assessment, the legend of Trelly being a "really good defender" is vastly overstated.
He gets caught in lag coverage a lot, the greatest characteristic he has is he rarely gets in foul trouble because when he gets beat he usually just lets them go which isn't altogether terrible with Aiden in there. He's mysterious to me because he is listed at 6'3, but he always appears to be defending from a smaller posture than most any two guard he is covering.

I think it says a lot about Kentucky that Mohammed Dioubate is someone you get credit for D’ing up on their team.

Right now I’m thinking Kentucky is probably going to be 5th or 6th best team we play in conference.

Any update on Sherrell?

Oats said he didn’t practice today and would be a game time decision for Vandy.

Post-game, Oats went out of his way to comment on how good of a job Trelly did on Mo. Essentially kept him from doing anything on offense, and Mo was their second leading scorer coming in.
Simular to what Sandkhan said. When Mo is that important to your offense
I think it says a lot about the poor roster building decisions Kentucky made.
Pope's offense is designed around dumping it to big guys who then pass it back out for 3s. But its simply not happening. The bigs dont pass, and no one can make 3s anyway.

Oats will go out of his way to complement Trelly on productive sneezes.
He loves him some Wrightsell.

Got lucky to get a floor seat Sat and Wrightsell was ham'ing it up with the fans. Good stuff. Seems like a good dude.
I still think he heats up later. Most of his misses are short.

He did the same at MSG, which was really cool. Got some good interactions with him, Allen, Philon, and Houston.
I’m cheering for him. I really like Wrightsell a lot. The whole team is very likable.

Other than Wague, who is a bit of a dirty player, and Miles, for obvious reasons, Oats has done a good job of not signing guys like Grayson Allen, Drew Timme, Lu Dort, etc. who you just want to choke slam through an announcers table from the top of a steel cage.
