Compares it to what Lute Olson did at Zona.

Years ago I was asked who was the best developer of nba talent and I had a brain freeze. Looking back the obvious answers are Lute Olson and Jim Calhoun.

I don't think we were nearly as much of a nothing program as Arizona was when Olson took over, but if Nate is here for 25 years and wins a natty + goes to 3 other Final Fours that would be pretty cool.

I mean is that a novel take at all? What would even be the competition?

It's definitely a fair comparison. In a bit of irony. Wimp played Lute Olson and Arizona twice, both in NCAA tournament. Eliminating Arizona both times.

What’s the best 5 or 6 year run of Tide hoops excluding Oats teams?

Wimp went to the Sweet 16 3 years in a row.

Was too young to remember what CM's teams did.

We also had the Rocket 8 teams that were pretty good.

Gottfired went to the Elite 8 once.

6 sweet 16s in 20 years, 82-91 Wimp

5 sweet 16s in 7 years, 85-91

5 SEC T champs 82, 87, 89, 90, 91

1 reg season champ 87

IMO, Oats has already surpassed Wimp, and it is during the toughest SEC ever, tho Wimp was tough in the SEC tournament.

Well.. you young folks don’t know.

But CM’s ‘76 squad was the best team in the country. The tournament wasn’t seeded then like it is now.

After crushing Dean Smiths top 5 North Carolina team in the first round, we played undefeated Indiana.

We had them too! But a bs call that fouled Leon Douglas out with just a few minutes to go sealed our fate.

Indiana went on to win the tournament. But until the day he died, Bobby Knight said that Alabama was the best team they played all year!

CM said years later.. “we had them.. and then we didn’t “
