I have never been overly impressed with Hurts ability to go down field but Saturday the WRs were dropping balls my 7yo could catch. He was on point with WRs being covered(draped on) by DBs. One throw IIRC was to a WR that had like defenders around him and it was on point.
He keeps playing like he did Saturday we have a chance to go all the way, even with the banged up defense. The score made it appear a lot closer then it was because of the drops by our WRs.

Hurts. He handles even a little pressure worse than any Alabama qb I can remember in a long time.
Dude go back and watch the game. There wasn't a little pressure, there was a LOT of pressure. The drops and the PI no calls are not on him. His bad passes and missed checks were made when he was pressured and/or flushed. He made the plays when it counted.

My observation is based on all the games before. I am pretty sure that the coaches advise him to take off rather than rush a pass, if he feels the pressure. That, too, is rather disconcerting as it would probably show a lack of confidence in his ability to check down and complete passes to secondary receivers.
All these things have been discussed over and over and over, and maybe it's prudent to consider why we keep having these same discussions about the qb. edit: Still, I wouldn't have said a word if not invited to.

Or maybe they are telling him to protect the football and if you see a lane, go for it. Oh and Jalen had some nice runs too....

And as long as Hurts fails to make them pay by consistently connecting with receivers where those linebackers just vacated, we'll continue to see pressure on Hurts. He handles even a little pressure worse than any Alabama qb I can remember in a long time.

I'm in the "You can't pull a guy who has only lost once in almost 2 years, but Tua is a better passer" camp. I like Hurts and his legs add a dangerous dimension to the game, but he does struggle after the first read is taken away. Having said that, the problem with the offense on Saturday wasn't on him. He played well enough to put up 30+ on that defense. Remember, we also mercy kneeled at around the 10 to end the game.

We have seen enough. They should be splitting reps.

Two things:
The throw to Ruggs was excellent. I'd like to see us throw deep over the middle of the field a little more (think Ridley vs FSU). Those seem to be his best deep balls but we rarely call it.
After the game I felt that Jalen did well. Watching those videos did nothing to change my opinion. I felt like he bailed too early on one pass but Daboll came right back with the same play to show Jalen it was open and he delivered a strike.

C'mon, Huddie, you're better than this. You're offering critiques on Jalen's performance without actually watching his performance. Even if someone is provoking you, you should watch the game before commenting.
Jalen DID check down during this game, when he had time. In fact, one of his completions (to Cam Sims, I think) came while he was being pressured and he was scrambling and still looking downfield. It was an amazing throw; he threaded it to Sims in the middle of four defenders.
Tua is a better passer than Jalen. No question. However, continuing to harp on Jalen's performance based on this game without actually watching the game isn't "debating" or "discussing;" it's cant.

If that throw had come from the arm of Tua, BOL (and this place probably) would have broken. What a freaking throw, man.

Yeah. What the hell was I thinking. Everybody knows that connecting on passes where that blitzing linebacker was won't slow down the quarterback pressure. duhhhhh

There also needs to be a WR in the area that the LB came from in order to do that.

If our WR's didn't have those drops and/or Saban doesn't mercy knee them at the end of the game then the narrative of this game would be much, much different.

And if one of those FOUR DEFENDERS had picked it off when Tua threw it, most of you would have been talking about what a dumb throw it was.

I never said it was a smart decision. Nonetheless, what a throw that was PERFECTLY on the money.

Everyone agrees Tua is a better natural passer but everything we have seen has basically been after the game was won.
Also I would add, Tua has yet to stick his head in the tiger's mouth. That was a very physical game. Jalen took some hits and gave some hits on his runs. He laid out that LSU DB on that big run and got up like it was nothing.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that on 3rd down on LSU's half of the field? If so, I don't think it was that bad of a decision. I don't think we were in FG range, and he didn't really have any other options to pick up a first down.
