It's been a GREAT run; unprecedented in football history, but the spoiled entitled "fans" around here can't even appreciate it, because they've forgotten what it was like before Saban.
All things pass. If the dynasty is in decline, and I strongly contest that, then I'll mark myself fortunate to have witnessed it, and look forward to the next great coach and future glory.

Just a counter point to everything being said in this thread: Look around and we are still the most consistently dominant program in the country.
Maybe things are just more difficult than they used to be, and with football turning more into 7-on-7, parity has increased across the board. There are lots of good QBs and lots of good WRs out there.
Remember back when everyone thought Dabo was the new Saban? Well he hasn't looked so hot without a superstar QB.
Kirby had a good year last year, but we shredded him last year in the SECCG, and he's still only got one natty and one SEC title, and there's a great chance he doesn't win the East this year.
What gets lost in all the playoff hype is the fact that we've won the SEC Championship 3 out of the last 4 years, which is a big deal considering this is the toughest conference by far.
I still wouldn't trade Saban for anyone at this moment

We are slipping and the evidence is right in front of you.
The biggest flaw in this team is penalties. Yes, Golding is garbage. So is BoB. But the penalties are inexcusable.
Take away all of the stupid penalties, and the games against Texas and Tennessee aren’t close.
I’m not trying to pump sunshine up anyone’s arse, but to me, that’s the reason why this team is so shaky. And all of that comes down to coaching. Everyone knows that Alabama will get everyone’s best shot, including the coaches. When that’s the case, you don’t gift them yards with stupid penalties.

Don’t tell some of the folks here that.

This. It looked like a Shula team to me….at least from way up in the end zone. So much talent but so little discipline. And the penalties seemed to ALWAYS kill or enhance momentum for the wrong side.
Some are saying Saban has lost some of his fire. Maybe …and I’m not sure what showed on tv. But even from my distant seats, I could tell he was as hot as he’s ever been after that stupid punt muff, as well as some of the burnt coverages. You could tell he was chewing some coaches and players asses. Nothing changed in players or coaches of course but I did see him as hot as I’ve ever seen him before!

I agree it’s been a heck of run, but it’s not over. We have bad assistant coaches, and that is what I believe we’re seeing. This game to me, was more of an Hugh Freeze era loss to Ole Miss, it sucks but we’ll come around. We’re not developing the players like we have in past, that Is what I see the most. We have elite athletes all over the field but either don’t know how to use them on account of poor play calling on offense or not developing them on the defensive side. The Dynasty has been in decline since we won our first Natty with Saban and come out the next year with the same team and lost to South Carolina. We need a young OC and an Old DC we got it backwards.

Same shite I heard when we lost 3 games in 2010, including to South Fvkn Carolina. Same shite I heard after 2013 and Kick Six. Saban has lost it. Gus is the new face of college football. Same shite I heard when we lost to Ohio State in the playoffs in 2014 and the NC games to Clemson in 2016 and 2018. Saban changed how he recruited and completely reimagined his offensive mindset. Then we went undefeated in an All-SEC schedule in 2020 and win another NC. I’m sick of this bitching. Bunch of pussies.

No because the dynasty had not yet begun with only 1 natty

This one hurt because AJ and the 2012 natty team felt like it was returning.. but no Bama fan said it was the end or felt like the end

Bama had Blake Sims a former defensive player/RB playing QB for us that year, they overachieved that year

the NC games to Clemson in 2016 and 2018.
2016 Bama had the best defense in the country and they deserved to win a NC.. but went against a great QB in Watson while Bama had a true freshman Jalen Hurts who was basically Blake Sims 2.0 at that point.
2018 In my opinion is where the decline of the dynasty started to happen. That was the first time under Saban that Bama just flat out got their asses kicked. They had lost games before but never in that type of fashion.

One of the best teams in CFB history.. and this shows us where the problem is.. Offensive Coordinator, does anyone here think we win a NC in 2020 with Bill O Brien as Offensive Coordinator?

Truer words have not been spoken. The entire troll army on this site is present here. The rest cant wait for the program to falter so they can claim how they were right all along, how they were the first to sound the alarm. If they can say such nonsense about Saban, are they even Bama fans?
I heard the same crap said about Coach Bryant and we all know what chaos ensued after his departure. Some people don't know how good we have it and what it feels like when we lose it. never understood the point of such posts.

Mac Jones
Najee Harris
Devonta Smith
Jaylen Waddle
John Metchie
Alex Leatherwood
Deonte Brown
Landon Dickerson
Emil Ekiyor
Evan Neal
on second thought this unit was so stout they might have been able to win it all with Stevie Wonder calling plays

Jesus Christ, man. If 2018 was the beginning of the decline of Bama football because we got our asses kicked by Clemson (if you’ve ever played sports you’ve had your arse kicked) give me more arse kicking. We won a SIXTH national championship with an undefeated season under Saban two years after you said the decline started. They whipped UGA’s arse in the SECCG last year and made another NC game for a rematch. Did we lose it? Yeah we did. Nine national championship game appearances in 15 years, the most recent one 9 months ago. Read that again.

This is the problem right here. Would you rather have Bama's year last season or UGA's?
You are beating your chest about a SECCG last season like its something to be proud of after losing in the national championship

Who cares about national championship game appearances? Bama is supposed to be playing to WIN national championships

As long as saban adapts to the challenge in front of him we will be ok and so far he always has so he gets benefit of the doubt. We are still in the hunt and that’s all that really matters at this point

You gotta get in them to win them. Six wins in nine appearances is historic, legendary. So Saban isn’t John Wooden with 8 in a row, but he’s the closest thing in college football. Let me know who’s in line to replace Saban and do better. Good luck.
