You know, I wish we had someone we could take a chance with like we had to a few years ago at LT with Leatherwood.
Imagine the shock if Kirby and Co gameplanned to get after our QB from our right and lo and behold our new RT was last years.

It took Saban all year to do something about it?

Having Leatherwood able to step in when Jonah got hurt was a great luxury.
Maybe Brent Key will come back. Collins' days at GT have to be numbered, right?

Nick will answer the questions about Pete, Doug, and BoB within a month. If Bama were to beat the unbeatable Dawgs then that will change.
We'll see.
We'll see.

2. Kirby doesn't like to blitz. I think we all pretty much remember that from his time here. He prefers to go straight up and let his athletes beat your athletes. It was remarkable how much more aggressive the defense here became when Pruitt took over.
Actually UGA does like to blitz one or both ILBs on obvious passing downs. Often the edge rusher(s) push the OT(s) inside and the ILB(s) quickly sneak around behind that to rush right outside of it.

I was never really impressed with Key, but he'd be a huge upgrade over Marrone. I'm kind of surprised Collins hasn't been fired by now. He's obviously not going to get things turned around there, but then again GT just doesn't care about sports anymore.

Yeah, I can't believe they haven't moved on. I actually googled Collins after I made that last post and he just fired some coaches a couple days ago. So I'd guess he's got one more year. That's kind of how it goes when you have to purge staff to save yourself.
Key was not fired; I'm with you, he'd not be my first choice but I'd take him in a heartbeat over what we've got right now.

Key was a happy medium, was a solid coach and recruiter(just not really noteworthy in either aspect).
He was a better position coach than Cristobal(he got demoted for Key), but Super Mario is just an elite recruiter that they made a spot for him.
Unless he's just an unusually great recruiter(OL coaches aren't usually), give me a good technical coach all day.

I am fully in favor of giving Stoutland a blank check and putting in his contract that he has to do no off campus recruiting.

Agreed. You want them all to be able to recruit if possible but OL needs a coach first , recruiter second. The DL, WR, RB, Secondary coaches etc can take up the slack . I think we have an OL coach that can do neither

I miss Stout a lot, he's just a fantastic coach. He's had so many injuries with his OL in Philly, yet he's able to cobble together solid lines still.
He turned a 2018 7th rd pick into a franchise LT who got a massive extension this year...

I think aside from Mario, most of the Bama OL coaches have been assigned the T-Town area aka "You can't possibly frick this up"

The quotes about physicality and explosiveness make me question the job being done on the S&C side.

Definitely not the SC issue. we're fine there.

Not being a smartass, but are we? All of OL seem horribly slow.

Give Stout as much money as he possibly wants, then add a dollar

None taken.. I get what you're saying, but what if it's not the SC issue, but rather the scheme... the wrong scheme (Marrone) can make OL look like they're playing slow. If SC is the issue, then are we having issue with other skill positions as well?

Explosiveness is absolutely about power and strength. And 20 yards by our RBs against LSU, for example, is about more than technique and play calls. Our OL absolutely has been physically dominated at times in the running game.
