I'm a bit concerned about recruiting

I know it's not where you start or even where you are now as compared to NSD but holy cow, we're badly lagging behind other schools in terms of number of recruits. According to 247sports, we're currently ranked #52 (?!).
Not panicked but it IS concerning.

What are we ranked on industry leader ESPN?

I feel like we usually start piling on recruits after the summer camps but I don't follow recruiting like I use to when they'd likely be around for 3-5 years.

In terms of visitors, the past couple of weekends have been huge. You also have a couple of in state 5 stars making decisions on June 26 and July 2 that Bama both expect to land. It will start filling up fairly quickly over the summer and they’ll end up in the top 5 like they normally do.

There may only be 5 signees but I believe Alabama is either first or second for average recruit score. Good to see the staff be somewhat discerning with talent acquisition. Plus as others have mentioned I kinda get the sense that the flood gates are about to open.

So here we are peak NIL era and you’re worried about recruiting in early June?

First the Rama Jama wall fell over and now this......
I hope some of you are just too young to remember the real bad times.

Just landed a 4 star OL. Things are already taking care of itself

Yes, it's June but when we're currently ranked #52 in the country according to 247, it's a little concerning.

The players currently committed are going to flip at an incredible rate as new offers and NIL deals are offered.
Of the players we do sign 20-30% will be gone within a year with most never seeing the field.
I get it that it’s somewhat better to get some cornerstone guys in place to build around, but I just don’t think it’s something worth worrying about unless we absolutely meltdown on the field because we’ve ended up top 5 for almost 30 consecutive years.

So what happened to last year players. They stayed with Bama. So I don't understand your logic.

A number of players have transferred, but not an abnormal level relative to other teams.
Here’s an article explaining that 20% of all CFB players were in the portal at some point last year hence my generalization that 20% of these kids will be gone within a year on average.
Absolutely nothing that I posted is at all controversial.

I am not concerned but more so curious - USC has 28 commits compared to our 5. Why the huge difference? I remember when Mack Brown/UT would be way ahead numbers wise than everyone else (I think he evaluated and signed mostly Juniors if I remember correctly) - Is USC doing something similar?

USC is going to lose at least 10 people before December.

According to Kirby we’re saving money by not paying players to stay committed.

It’s better to make the last offer than gettting into a bidding war. Come in late and push your chips in.
