Why? You really want this guy on his knees or prostrate, begging people to stay in the name of the great god continuity or to some how keep the Saban mystique alive even though he’s gone?

if this has become such a cult of personality, to that extent, around Saban alone, maybe a little house cleaning and restructuring and “don’t let the door hit you in the arse when you leave” is in order to move away from that even if in the short term it makes people insane or even causes us a bit of pain.

The University of Alabama played football, very successful, for 114 seasons before Saban. God willing it will do the same after Saban.

I think Coach Saban was a little naive thinking he could help keep the roster together after his announcement. I think this has been a big surprise to him.

The only thing that could have made this least where you’re not going through this 3 times in four months is he would have had to wait until the spring portal and retired then BuT of course that creates a coaching issue

Or maybe it didn’t even enter his thoughts, and he was like “I have given these people my all for 17 years, I’m going to the house and it’s not my problem anymore?”

Wouldn't care about having an office at the school if that was the case. Would have just split to Florida.

Or it’s smoke and mirrors and they parade Saban out on big recruiting weekends. You know, put some papers on his desk, have a sit down with a mom and pop and he gets some salary

I have thought from the get go that he will be barely seen around that office, but everyone automatically assumed that he was going to still be actively and regularly involved and engaged in the program.

Personally I think he is as pissed as we are, and is hunkered down with a whiteboard in his new office figuring out a long game way of scamming this fricked up system.

He was very clear he wasn't ready to walk away. Just couldn't do it at the level he wanted. This would be a new challenge. Its not far fetched to believe as long as he is not interfering with the new staff.

You know, in hindsight, I agree. I wish this would have been planned better - to avoid losses. But then again, wtf can you do.

The loss of players are becoming fairly big. These aren’t processed players, they are next-level NFL-type contributors.

People are going to have to accept that we will need amazing coaching to stay at a high level of winning.
