Just saying that with a QB half as talented as Tua, they would have had insane numbers every year

"Half as talented"???

Now you're just trying to save face. What college qb EVER has been as talented as Tua? Maybe none.

Amari Cooper has every receiving record that exists at Alabama, most by margins that aren't even close. He has the top TWO seasons for TD receptions. To suggest that his abilities were "squandered" is just ignorant.

To say that, because Cooper didn't get to play with perhaps the greatest QB ever, it means that McCarron and Sims were...and I'm quoting you here..."mediocre to shitty" is pretty damn stupid.

I understand exactly what the OP is saying. OJ got a look and the benefit of the doubt because he played for Alabama. His numbers were mediocre at best. All of our quarterbacks have been mediocre. Amari did good at Alabama but with an good quarterback his stats would have been great. Owning the record books at a team that is historically known for mostly running does not mean as much as it could if Bama was a team with traditionally high powered offenses. All I'm saying is just because those players did good doesn't mean they couldn't have done better.

It has nothing to do with the QB play.

The difference is the offense. McElwain and Nussmeier were shite.

Amari Cooper had 124 for 1727 and 16 TDs with Kiffin / Sims.

Peyton Manning in his NFL prime could have played QB and Amari couldn't have realistically produced much more. 124 catches is the all time conference record in a season

Ifs and ifs. Oj was underutilized but still made the league easily, it's not always about numbers, the combine and the eye test are just as important

Am I the only one who likes Irv better as a player than OJ?

OJ probably has better straightline speed, but Irv is a more fluid runner and uses his body much better than OJ did in college.

The slant OJ took to the house vs. LSU early in his career showed he was a special athlete. So, I don't think you could wrong either way, especially in this offense.

But, I'm with you. I think I'd actually prefer Irv. Even as sacrilegious as it might be.

Ridley, or Cooper, or Julio. We have totally squandered elite talent

How exactly? All these guys won a Natty playing in a different type of offense. We also don’t have backs gaining 200 yards anymore either. Doesn’t mean it was inferior, it was just different.

Don’t get greedy - I wouldn’t go back and trade watching Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, Yeldon, and Henry running 20 times a game. It was special then and now.
