Or Ridley, or Cooper, or Julio. We have totally squandered elite talent because we have mediocre to shitty QBs. This is an amazing new era.

Between the 3 you listed, they combined for almost 10,000 receiving yards, 71 touchdowns, and 4 national championships while at Alabama. Yeah, totally squandered their talents.

Just saying that with a QB half as talented as Tua, they would have had insane numbers every year

While those accomplishments are outstanding all of those accomplishments could've been improved upon. OJ Howard, I believe, was such a rare talent that he could've really done some serious damage with better QB play.

Define squandered. All those guys were 1st rounders and all won National Championships (or multiple). They all were featured players on title teams.

Certainly if Tua were our QB every year they might have had better numbers, but they all did pretty dang well. I actually think the secondary receivers were the ones that stood to gain from improved QB play. Those main guys got fed regardless.

But also the flip side of that is bc he wasn't utilized a whole lot, he was a little under the radar, we were able to throw him the ball in certain situations because he would get wide open with the defense double teaming other players.

Also, imagine our team if Bill Belichick was our water boy.

I don't buy this line of thinking at all. Who could cover OJ in college? Very, very few athletes. OJ is a tough cover in the NFL.

Yep. 5 titles in 9 seasons.

What a damned waste.

I love OJ, but let's get real. He has 8 TD's and 783 yards in a year and a half in the NFL. Those are good TE numbers, but definitely not near elite.

With Jameis and Fitzpatrick passing the ball to him? A journeyman QB and another QB who may be out of the league because he's underperformed on the field and can't keep his hands off women off the field.

As Shannon Sharpe, the HOF TE said, a receiver is a dependent position. If your QB isn't good you won't have good numbers. So, those stats don't mean a hill of beans to me. Put OJ in the Falcons or the Saints or the Chiefs offense and you tell me he wouldn't put up massive numbers.

AJ McCarron says hello. He was a great college QB. Absolutely clutch player.

The good news is I think Tua takes the lid off that. Pundits have been preaching "Bama wants a game manager at QB" for so long, everybody was buying into it. Now that we have a gunslinger putting up video game numbers and Saban is not only allowing it, but appears comfortable with it changes the rhetoric. Now we should be able to recruit 5 star QB's just like at RB or LB.

Now, if we could only land a Legatron.

I say this every time Irv catches a pass but he's pretty talented in his own right.
