I still feel like we're not that far off

I know it's doom and gloom right now, but I still feel like DeBoer can right the ship. He has to make the right moves. First, starting with Grubb. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it..... he has to get rid of Grubb. Seattle literally went from underperforming season to Super Bowl winner after canning him. If that doesn't tell you anything.......
The offense is loaded with weapons, but is obviously going to held back by a terrible playcaller. Grubb has to go, or DeBoer is going to be feeling it.
As frustrating as Wommack's D can be at times (big plays, etc), I think D is good enough to get stops and contribute to winning it all one day. They have, for the last 2 seasons now, consistently been put in spots by Grubb's inability to run an offense.
Hell, we've lost two games now. Last week by just a few points. This week we were dominated because of our inability to generate any offense (which seems to be common theme the last two seasons when playing a good opponent; again, that falls back on that sorry arse excuse for a coach named Grubb), but the D kept them in it despite being on field for the majority of the game.
All in all, I'm not ready to give up on DeBoer just yet. I want to see if he has what it takes to correct what is obviously a glaring issue (Grubb/playcalling). If he is not, then the heat is about to ramp up 1000 degrees. Either he tries to fix what most of us think (and has already been proven in Seattle's case) is the problem, or he goes down with his buddy.

DeBoer and Grubb are as closely philosophically aligned as Saban and Kirby.
If you want to fire Grubb, we might as well fire DeBoer if we're being honest.

Grubb is too inconsistent to have a consistently good offense for championship levels. He might look great and give you that glimmer of what could be. Only to utterly fail you later. I have seen enough not to buy into thinking he is going to meet the Bama standard....As Laguna said, Deboer thinking Grubb is the answer is scarey for the leadership of the program.

cover1key's thread just debunked this narrative.

Generally speaking, I do think we have the right pieces. I think 10-2 is very much possible but my god you can't lose to Tennessee, of all teams, like that. It's maddening not knowing whether team will come out guns blazing or like they're hungover. I'm not sure there even is a 'normal' and that's been the case since KDB got here

Hell almost everyone on the rant thought we were a 10-2 at best. If we go 10-2 maybe we can show something late. Who knows.

I don’t think we look like a 10-2 team.
Injuries are going to happen but clearly we have flimsy depth at positions we could ill afford to be thin.

I will say again, our saving grace is that there is no real dominant team this year and crazy s**t is happening every week.
I think crazy s**t would still be happening if a genie could bring Saban back as coach and Kiffin and Pruitt back as coordinators. This ain’t the college football of 5 years ago, let alone 10 or 15 years ago, and it’s only going to get worse.
I don’t think our fans want to beat everyone 90-0 but I do think they want a level of certainty that they have had in the past and that is gone with the wind, period, exclamation point and is never coming back. Not with mercenary players. (Dennis Dodd of CBS yesterday predicted that the playoffs will go to 32 teams within a decade because the money will be needed to pay the players.)

The crazy thing is how week by week CFB has become. It’s a roller coaster of who is up, who is down. Every week a fanbase crashes out.
