5 or 6 years from now? We’ll see.

Eventually we are all going to have to live through the program decline that comes with all long term head coaches.

Saban’s decline may not be on the level of JoePa or Bowden, but on it will happen on some level.

Whenever it comes, in whatever form it takes, he’s been worth it and deserves as long as he wants.

I'm all good with Sark succeeding Saban as HC. I think he's a great fit. But Saban says he wants to keep coaching as long as his health permits and he's still successful doing it. We'll just have to wait see how that plays out.

I really think Saban’s successor will be Mario Cristobal. Dabo wants to retire at Clemson. I do think Saban will have some decline like Bowden, but with 5 national titles he has earned it. Bama will be in great shape for the next coach. However following Saban will not be an easy task. He is the GOAT

I’m more than fine with Cristobal.

I would look at Bill O'Brien and Doug Marone if I was Texas. Both are legit coaches.

If you're in a race for last place in the AFC south.

Three years ago Greg Byrne, the UA AD, changed the employment terms for assistant coaches to be severely negatively incentivized for leaving only after 3-5 years, depending on position - if that makes sense.

I'm not sure it does. Doesn't the state of Alabama limit the duration of assistant coach contracts to 3 years?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Both revived moribund college programs, that's relevant to this topic.

i hope they dont have any type of hc in waiting deal in place or even on the horizon. that would mean sark would be limited in his recruiting efforts. bama dont need that headache.

i really think sark has come into his own while at bama. thats why i put him equal with cristabol and both ahead of lane.

Only if you think that's what the next coach at UA will be doing. Otherwise you're just talking about Texas, which has nothing to do with the topic.
