, if Young is the qb he'll probably bring a Jalen factor to the offense, because evidently he's very mobile

Bryce is mobile but he isnt fast or at least he isn't fast compared to a guy like Hurts. Bryce Young will be able to extend plays like Tua did and by all means take off for a first down here and there but he wont be a threat on the ground like Jalen is. Can't wait to see him come spring time.

if he's as mobile as freshman Tua was, and near the passing qb, it will be great. Before the injuries Tua was very mobile.

But does he have quick feet? Is he good at feeling the pressure in the pocket and avoiding the rush? The things that matter most for a QB.

Jalen didn't have quick feet, or a quick release and was terrible about making guys miss and buying time in the pocket.

That goofy damn Franchione, in spite of the fact that sanctions precluded us from having a full roster, he was 2 recruits short of signing as many as he could. I mean, ok, I understand the elite players weren't lining up to play for a team on probation, but he could have found 2 able high school recruits somewhere to at least sign as many as possible. It's like he figured the ncaa sanctions weren't quite bad enough so let's add 2 more lost scholarships to the penalties.

I'm going off memory here and it has been almost 20 years.....but I worked with a guy that was a recruiting fanatic. During this time, I specifically remember him talking about this. He said that years senior class (high school) was not all that great. The juniors in that recruiting cycle were more abudant and better talented. Because of probation, we were somewhat relegated to kids closer to home that grew up Alabama fans. Save the scholarship and burn it the following year on a better player that had a higher ceiling was the mind set. Also, this was before the SEC limited us on the amount of kids we could sign per year.

I have no love loss for Franchione, but he actually did have a pretty decent method to his madness.

Would be very surprised if any first rounders come back. That said, I like the idea of being more balanced. I think the physical attitude translates to defense.

I agree. I think CNS may be a little ticked at not being able to blow people off the ball at Will. In the last four or five games we ran the ball well, and when we wanted to do so, rather than it’s being dictated to us.

My sense is that next year will be a 2009 type season in which we come out a little angry on offense and seek to establish a dominant running game, reminiscent of the Clemson opener.

Even a returning Tua would be asked to look to establish the run game and connect on deep shots that stretch the field. Certainly, we would keep RPO type players in the book along with the slants. But, anyone would have to admit that we developed a nasty stretch-run game late in the season.

Dylan Moses is the players I’d pick if e only got to pick one. I want them all but Moses is the most critical.

Yea especially that interception Tua threw against Tennessee on first down. He should have thrown the ball away then lived to fight on 2nd and 3rd down. Tua thinks he has to hit a home run every play. On the injury play in Starkville Tua held the ball way too long instead of throwing it away and not getting hit.

Tua simply has to learn to give up on a play sooner and live to fight another day. His injuries aren't from scrambling ahead for yardage, his injuries are from waiting for something to develop too long, extending the play, and the defense finally gets to him. It's an admirable trait but its also destroying his body.

This is his biggest knock/flaw to a T. He has such unbelievable ability as a passer that he won't give up on a play when it isn't there.

On the hip play, it's 3rd and long with a 28 point lead and you are ALREADY INJURED.

He rolled 20 yards left waiting for something to open up before getting rid of it at the last second and taking a totally unnecessary hit. You've got to know to protect yourself better than that, especially given the context.

That pass needed to be in the 35th row 2 seconds earlier.

Not only does he have such confidence in making the play with the pass, and deservedly so, but he also is confident in eluding defenders. I mean, before the injuries Tua was a very mobile qb. In some ways more elusive than Jalen even. Very quick. So after being such a mobile qb all his life, I suppose it's just a mindset that "I can get away from this guy". I have noted many times that an injury like that impacts a qb's game not only physically, but mentally, and this is another example.

And its a shame that the hit that caused all of this might just be THE most unnecessary hit he has taken in his 3 year here.

It's only rival I can think of is the 1st & 10 sack against Georgia that lead to 2nd & 26.

He should have thrown away the ball. He's kind of like the polar opposite of Jalen's first 2 years in the fact that he has all the confidence in the world that he can make the play, whereas Jalen was not confident in completing the pass so he would take off or chunk it.
