Uhh, yeah, I did. Again...read the link and then look at the history of all the California state schools that have traveled to those states since the law took effect. Fresno, San Jose State, UCLA, and Cal football teams have all traveled to those states since then...and that's only football.
In addition, you should have read the FAQs. The first one on the list...
"Does AB 1887 prohibit all travel to states on the Attorney General’s list?
No. AB 1887 prohibits the use of state funds to pay for travel to a state on the Attorney General’s list, except where one of the statutory exceptions applies. It does not affect travel that is paid for or reimbursed using non-state funds."

Well, I am interested in hearing his perspective as I see Christ as having very little to do with politics and everything to do with reconciling sinful men to a holy God. Nonetheless, the current religious landscape is littered with people seeking to make Jesus into their political patron saint.
Yea my post was more general not just geared towards you.
And yes I agree.

I agree with your Overarching point that the “Jesus would be a ....” arguments can be very wrongly used and unhelpful.

Especially when they involve anything other than individual behavior. The only instructions Jesus gave people regarding the ruling Roman Government was to obey their laws unless those laws violated God's law (simplified via the "give what to Rome what is Rome" teaching regarding taxes, obviously). That's it. Nothing else. And as we all know, the Roman government of the 1st century wasn't exactly Godly in nature.
Assigning him some sort of political affiliation based on his teachings to individuals is absurd, but widespread in 21st century America (both ways).

The state of Alabama is on that boycott list as well. I believe this is the same political issue that cost North Carolina from hosting some March Madness.
I believe in NC you can now go into either his or her bathrooms and relieve yourself in the traditional stand-up position.
And people have the audacity to suggest Politicians never get anything accomplished.

They are side walkers that would never get accepted by the university. They will go away eventually.

I told him how Jesus would be for helping illegal immigrants and even showed him this verse-
For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 10:17-19
He responded like the dumbass he is-
"That God has no borders is demonstrably a false statement as is the statement that God is pro-gay/trans."
There is no use talking to these kinds of people.

The term foreigner that you list there has to do with legal guest workers in Israel. They were indeed to be treated justly. They were NOT, however, full citizens of Israel and did not enjoy all of the rights and privileges of citizenship. The term does not refer to those who illegally entered into Israel.
This kind of stuff is what happens when you get your theological education from social justice warriors.
And I am a third generation graduate of UA.
Edited: I made one mistake above. Many of the foreigners listed above did have most of the rights of the regular citizens because they were also religious converts to Judaism. So basically, blood Jews are told to respect and honor their brethren by conversion. This would be much like the Acts 7 situation of Gentile Christian widows arguing that Jewish Christian widows received greater rations.

(1) As Love notes below, this is part of Hebrew Law discussing how they are to treat members of society - specifically non-Jews working in Israel.
(2) Jesus would absolutely be for me helping an illegal immigrant or any other individual (though this passage is Old Law specifically giving Jewish law to the people and has nothing to do with Jesus) who is suffering.
Jesus did not, however, lecture the Roman Government on their tiered system of citizenship. He didn't tell people to rise up and protest the Roman system that placed "Roman Citizens" above all others in every aspect of life. He told individuals how to live their individual life. How to treat others, how to live like him, how to teach others.
I also believe that Jesus pretty clearly states that those breaking the law for any reason other than scriptural should right that wrong and repent. And that includes breaking laws regarding immigration and citizenship, as hard as that is.

Interesting. In what ways do you think Jesus would be leftist by today’s standards?
Did he not give away food, free healthcare, and if you believe in Him... an eternal home?

Jewish people, unless affiliated with the UC system, would not be impacted by the legislation.
