If I had to put a number on it, without going back and counting, at least a dozen drive killing snaps. Snaps so bad that it was akin to a holding /personal fould penalty. That doesn't include the time Bama over came other bad snaps (or iron bowl ). Not a reflection on him as a person, but Bama had 1st and goal on the 1 yard line against OM and ended up kicking a 25 ish yd FG because McLaughlin sailed one 15 yds over Milroe

Really, more like intentional grounding because essentially took "sack yards" and lost a down in the process.

There were many times that the snap was errant enough to break the QB's attention, even though there wasn't a fumbled snap. Not ideal when the QB is inexperienced and having enough already on his plate. After awhile I think it got in his head so much, it became a self fulfilling prophecy.

He had issues with bad snaps across multiple seasons at Alabama, culminating in a bad snap at the end of the Rose Bowl against Michigan.

I wish him the best of luck (unless Bama is playing against Ohio State). He seems like a good young man.

You are 100% correct. This site is FULL of Cult of Milroe fanboys! Nothing is EVER his fault. Didn't you know, Teague, he's the greatest QB/Player to ever dawn the crimson jersey.

I think/hope no one was questioning his character. I don’t think he is a bad guy at all.

There were moments late last season where his attitude got really bad when he was being challenged by his teammates about his snaps. Probably just a lot of heat on him, it’s understandable.

After some conversations with people in the program, he was almost 100% responsible for the bad snaps. There was almost never a broken cadence by Milroe. His snaps against Michigan were probably his worst. Also if you go back across the season you will see Milroe having to bend down take his eyes off the field. That really hurt him as a QB.

Also, if opposing defenses know, which they did . They were going to to everything they could to make him do that against them. I believe Michigan even said that after the game.

Bad snaps stifle Alabama in 27-20 Rose Bowl loss to Michigan to end season

quote:

Seth McLaughlin didn’t want to talk, politely waving off reporters when they approached. As teammates changed around him, heading for the showers and throwing tape into trash cans after Alabama football’s 27-20 loss in the Rose Bowl to Michigan, McLaughlin sat in his full white and crimson uniform, sans helmet and cleats, staring into his locker to the left of James Brockermeyer’s.

quote:

The Crimson Tide center struggled all through the season getting snaps back to quarterback Jalen Milroe. That problem showed up in force in the College Football Playoff semifinal against Wolverines.

quote:

Throughout the game, McLaughlin snapped the ball low. It threw off Milroe’s rhythm as the Tide tried to fix what was ailing its offense in the loss.

The problem surprised Jenkins.

“I was like ‘What happened bro?’” he said. “I was genuinely confused. I wasn’t even trying to talk trash, I just like “What’s going on?” He didn’t say nothing but fair enough.”

Even on the last play, the snap went low. Milroe gathered it and took off up the middle, but couldn’t score on fourth-and-goal from the three.

The season was over.

The play was likely to Williams but the snap threw the play out of sync and Milroe had to make a decision when the numbers on the left weren’t there anymore. Is what it is. It sucked but we are all still here.

Dude had a lot of bad snaps, got blamed for losing to Michigan, probaly got some crazy fans saying crazy stuff. Good guy who had trouble doing one of the most important things a center does, snap the ball correctly to the QB.

How are ya'll liking Downs?

Seems like a good guy. Has started his own charitable foundation and is playing relatively well for OSU. I do remember him twitching and false starting in some big games -- could that be the reason Alabama may have soured on him?

It was just the bad snaps. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him personally. But the snap problem lasted an entire season, even into the playoff game. I don't know what happened, but something got in his head, and he couldn't shake it.

He needed a fresh start. I'm glad it's worked out well for him. Always nice to see a good guy get a W.

G almighty: Ohio State's best offensive lineman went down against Oregon (left tackle Simmons). Now 2d best lineman down on thinnest group on the team. When Simmons went down, I didn't think OSU could beat PSU. Now this with Indiana coming up. Will be interesting to see how this affects the betting line.

Wrong group for this to happen to.

The guy was awful last year. Sounds like he is a good guy but that has nothing to do with his performance.

He really hasn't had the problems at OSU that he had last year with Bama. One thing I don't understand (reading the articles about his problems) is why he wasn't benched.

He snapped the ball like shite during the gravedigger play against Auburn and they only had like 2 defensive linemen on the field.

Losing a center this late in the year is bad news. OSU might struggle without him.
