Seeing how you would have beaten Michigan, I wish those problems weren't there in 2023.

I really don't think they are excuses when the problem was solved. I realize virtually no one at this board dislikes Seth but personally I don't think he was making excuses -- he was looking for a way to play better.

Everything I have been told is that Oregon's Autzen stadium is extremely loud, maybe the loudest in the country. He didn't have problems there and almost certainly OSU used a cadence methodology at that game.
Would also say that Seth himself said that OSU's approach helped him.

Why Seth Mclaughlin Had the Yips in 2023

Ryan Day was interviewed about the 2024 season and among other things, the transfer portal. He asked Seth what his problem was in 2023. Seth said that he was supposed to snap on a clap with no lead up to the clap and that got him overanxious. Ryan Day said no problem -- we are not going to do that and we will have a cadence and a lead up. During the time he played I wasn't aware of one "yipped" snap at OSU. See 9:46 here: LINK
I will mention that Seth has generally been very complimentary to both Alabama and OSU, but in an interview about 3 weeks ago he said it helped him at OSU that OSU sought his input, while Alabama didn't and wanted everything done one way.

re: Hope you guys don't mind -- but what was the issue of Seth McLaughlin transferring

Don't know how he was fixed, but possibly better relations with offensive line coach. Jake Butt, a former Michigan player, and a fair evaluator to me, stated that he felt that Seth was the most impactful non-skill position transfer in the portal last year and that Seth was playing at an All American level. (1:30 of video) Reading all of the problems he had last year must have driven the fans nuts.
Also, I think someone asked about Caleb Downs, Jake at about 6:05 called him the eliminator.

He really hasn't had the problems at OSU that he had last year with Bama. One thing I don't understand (reading the articles about his problems) is why he wasn't benched.

G almighty: Ohio State's best offensive lineman went down against Oregon (left tackle Simmons). Now 2d best lineman down on thinnest group on the team. When Simmons went down, I didn't think OSU could beat PSU. Now this with Indiana coming up. Will be interesting to see how this affects the betting line.
Wrong group for this to happen to.

Interesting. I haven't watched all of the plays, but I don't remember one twitch or one bad snap. (Probably have missed a couple) Transfer portal working out well for him as it did for Jameson Williams.
Will add that when I get the chance, I enjoy interacting with you guys. Generally nice, respectful people. (In sharp contrast to Clemson fans who are the worst)

out of Alabama to OSU. (OSU fan here) Seems like a good guy. Has started his own charitable foundation and is playing relatively well for OSU. I do remember him twitching and false starting in some big games -- could that be the reason Alabama may have soured on him?
To those of you who might think I am trolling, I came here after Jameson Williams transferred and congratulated him and Alabama for the very good season he had. No reason a great receiver like him should sit on the bench behind other great receivers.

Ohio State Fan Here. I couldn't believe targeting or unnecessary roughness wasn't called. OSU was leading Clemson 16-0 in first half of playoff game when DB Shaun Wade (5'10") came in untouched aiming for Trevor Lawrence (6'6") chest. Lawrence ducked into Wade and Wade's helmet incidentally hit that of Lawrence. At the time most people said under the rules it was targeting. The hit against your qb seemed much worse to me and I couldn't believe it wasn't called.

Devastating reporting from Bruce Feldman. Said that he and other reporters at the Athletic asked coaches how much of a difference this cheating made to the outcome and for them to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5. 95% of the coaches rated it as a 3 or above. Some coaches said it could given the cheaters a 21 point advantage in a game. Most of the coaches thought the cheating was very serious. Starts at minute 3 of Youtube video. LINK
Also, Paul Finebaum at 1:00 said it was extremely nefarious and could be the biggest scandal in college football history. 3:54 LINK
I think Michigan needs to be disciplined during this season and not after the college football playoffs. It their team wins the championship and gets the fruits of the cheating, no one at Michigan will care that they got caught cheating.

Rick Neuheisel former qb and head coach states that Michigan received a significant advantage. Says that last years offensive coordinator Josh Gattis won the Broyles award as top offensive coordinator but couldn't last one year as head coach without the sign stealing advantages.
LINK
Later correction. Gattis moved from Michigan to Miami to become offensive coordinator not head coach. Got fired as coordinator after one year.

Wall Street Journal reporting that Michigan has withdrawn a contract offer to Harbaugh that would have given him a very substantial raise. LINK

Since Michigan has illegally obtained a significant competitive advantage, I think it should be penalized this year. I would suggest that they be forced to play without a coach [below the coordinator level] on both the offensive and defensive side. For instance, they should be forced to lose their linebacker's coach and their offensive line coach for example.

Many people with no axe to grind think this is very serious. I am an OSU person with an axe to grind, but if Alabama keeps winning I think it deserves to be in the playoff more than blatant cheaters like Michigan.
Dan Dakich [former Indiana and Bowling Green basketball coach] tears into Michigan for about 8 minutes beginning at about minute 7 of the video. Says other Big Ten coaches are really pissed and that he has talked to 4 of them. Because the coaches are pissed he believes that this issue is serious and has legs. Calls Harbaugh a cheat.

Division III player and coach describes his sign stealing for Michigan and being paid out of Stalions personal venmo account. He worked 2 Penn State games. LINK
Interesting to me that Stalions was suspended with pay. Facts are so clear he should be suspended without pay. I suspect Michigan is afraid he will "turn state's evidence" and blab to the NCAA if his pay is cut off.

re: OT for people with no skin in the game. Was the hit against Jaxson Smith Njiba legit

I saw this play from a different angle before and JSN looked like he had to go down. From the angle shown at 14:22 doesn't look like he is down. So, I can agree it was a legitimate hit although I wonder about forearm knocking off helmet.

As an Ohio State fan, I commented on Jameson Williams last year here and wished him well. Got thinking that maybe Alabama fans would be neutral arbiters of this question.
The Notre Dame hit against Jaxson Smith Njigba seems borderline to me. Notre Dame player's shoulder went into Njigba's shoulder as he was going down. At the same time, his forearm knocked off Njigba's helmet. If this was your receiver or qb, would you think it was targeting. Even if not targeting, do you think it is a legitimate hit that a clean football player would make?
The hit is at 14:22 of this video. LINK

I remember many folks here saying Joe couldn't be any good because he was OSU's No. 2. Even after his first year here, many here were saying he was only a game manager.
I was here from day 1 saying how I thought he was very good -- A 2d to 5th round draft pick. Little did I know he was the goat and for that I am very happy. Loved the guy at OSU and loved him at LSU.
