Out of curiosity I had to check out the tax stamp info:

Failing to affix a tax stamp on controlled substances—often referred to as a "drug tax stamp violation"—is a legal requirement in several U.S. states where a tax is imposed on illegal drugs

Im not smart enough to understand this.... How would you qualify for a tax stamp for something illegal?

This honestly is one of the issues with NIL. You give a 20 year old 6 or 7 figures and then what? Do they have a lawyer, CPA, Bookkeeper? When I “made” it I didn’t even feel like I did because of the IRS, lawyers, CPA’s all the shite that comes with it.

I don't have any idea what Bama spends on the roster but I'd imagine he's making at least top 3 on the team. Anywhere from 200k-800k would be my guess, but no idea really. Selling drugs to supplement income when you're in the top 1% of income earners in the state already? Just retarded.

It’s easy actually. $3.50 per gram, anything over 42.5 grams. Fill out a form.

This is all pretty disappointing. Aden is probably the best shooter we ever had and when he’s hot he gives us a chance against anyone.

He also effects spacing a lot.

He was making a crazy amount of money through NiL and we have a good team going into their most important stretch of the year. Even if he lived in California it would be stupid to do this because dope spots get robbed all the time. Selling weed as a side quest while making great money playing basketball is just dumb.

But how is this logical. If you are paying taxes on "illegal drugs" sales, aren't you admitting to trafficking illegal drugs... It's just weirdly worded as if, well if Aden had just paid taxes on his illegal drug deals, this would have been better.

I mean right, no one is saying he should have but he was required to. If you get my drift. Kind of like obstruction of justice, it’s a lose catch all.

It seems like one of those extra charges you end up hitting people with for distribution.

Like…of course you aren’t going to admit to dealing drugs by paying income tax on it or affixing stamps. But because you didn’t here’s extra charges for tax evasion. Gives you extra things to get them to agree to a plea or just stack charges.

If he was charged with two felonies, I’d be shocked if he plays again this year

A DUI would have been far better.

Two felony charges he will be lucky not to be expelled.

Yeah I don’t see this ending well. Best case for him, he gets probation, another school gives him a chance down the road.

Yeah probably not. My first reaction was to defend him because he’s one of my favorite players and losing him kills any shot we had.

But if he’s being charged with felony distribution then that’s a wrap.

I personally think a lot of drug charges are overblown and no one should be doing time over marijuana. BUT it’s still just incredibly stupid and reckless and selfish to your teammates to put yourself in this position for a fraction of what you make legitimately through basketball.

How can some of these players be so fricking stupid!? Just retarded level logic

Say bye bye to the 2nd weekend in the tourney, kick his arse off the team for retardation alone.

You wouldn't. It's just another thing for them to charge you with. It has a separate element from just possession too, so I doubt it would even merge for sentencing. I mean on the one hand I don't think this should be a crime in the first place because I don't see how it's any different than buying a keg and charging people $5 for a cup at the door, but at the same time I don't really sympathize with him because with his income he has absolutely no need to engage in black market commerce.

A DUi puts other people at risk. This is worse for him in terms of legal and playing implications, but wasn't putting anyone in danger. It was also much, much dumber.

I’m saying from a legal standpoint not that I want either thing to happen.

Side note, who is his replacement?

Dude is making bank and decides to deal in weed??!!

The cheapest drug out there.

That’s just stupid. And incredibly selfish.

Assuming he came back next year, this just completely jacked up next years team as well.
