No, he’s just gotten old and bitter. He’s always been an arrogant son of a bitch and unlikeable but now he’s old and rotting and bitter about it. The vain never age gracefully and he’s one of the most vain people to ever be given a platform.

No disagreement there.

That state is completely dependent on being a part of the USA. If the country were to cease operating tomorrow, the State of Alabama could proceed as an entity as if nothing happened. The State of California would collapse.
People who are morons like to claim "red states" are a "drain on the federal government" while "blue states" are net "givers" to the federal government. They never look at the true cause of this problem: required spending. Alabama only "spends" more than our state "gives" to the feds because of spending on social programs that are essentially pass through funds our state is required to spend, by law, on specific purposes. If the USA ceased to exist tomorrow, we'd simply stop funding those programs. California would desperately try to figure out a way to still fund them on their already overextended budget.
We'd simply stop those programs and no additional knock-on effects of that infusion of outside cash leaving our economic system will happen. Got it.

Yes, that's correct. I'm glad you understand. Government welfare programs are drains, not gains, to our economy.
ETA: Actually, our state would be better off long-term because this would force the drains on our state to move out or start working.

Have to marry GDP and debt if you’re trying to swing debt as an angle
2022 California was at 15.6% compared to Alabama at 13.4%. Neither were close to the peak
Kentucky is 22.78% for comparison
Anyway #FreeHolloway

CA's tax base is leaving in droves, both public and private.

Nice graph I guess, with "HireAHelper" as the source for the dataset.
There are 40 million people in this state. I've known and met people who moved away to cheaper states like Idaho thinking everything would be roses and sunshine, only to move back within a few years. Grass ain't always greener.
I love Birmingham and where I grew up, but it's always funny how the very mention of California gets conservatives in the south riled up. Especially the ones who have never and will never come here seem to have the strongest opinions about it.

Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats on whether he’s talked to G Aden Holloway since his suspension. “Now is not the time to ignore a kid that you built a real relationship with,” Oats said. “Now is the time he needs more help from the adults in his life than at any point. So when I got into coaching, way back when I first got out of college, and I was a division three assistant not making any momey, and then I went to a high school job in Detroit area for 11 years. To basically coach for no money for 16 years, you better be doing it for the right reasons, just losing an awful lot of money and spending all the hours time traveling with kids to official visits. So I got to remind myself, you know, I'm a high school coach that's caught some breaks up here, but I don't want to lose why I got into this thing in the first place. So you get into it to help impact young men's lives. Well, if you disappear when they make a mistake, not so sure that's a genuine relationship, you buildt. So I've got three daughters. They've made mistakes. You don't disappear on them when they need your help. So I won't be disappearing on (Aden). I talked to him yesterday morning on the phone. I talked to him the night before that. Talk to him every day so far. So I'm gonna continue to talk to him. You know, love him.”

Im semi retired at 62 and smoke a joint every night. Had a shoulder surgery at 48 and got hooked on painkillers for a year. Never again. The people that smoke all day long though are fricking losers.

There will inevitably be people who criticize that statement, and that is a damning indictment of our society. What used to be anonymous internet trolls are now real people who are paid money to publicize their opinions. They aren't serious people, but they get to guide our national discourse because loud and stupid is what generates engagement.

You won't find any source that does not show people leaving California in droves. The net migration out of that state isn't a conspiracy theory or made up.

I'm there regularly. Half the people I work with live there. Whatever nonsense you're peddling isn't reality.

Glad to hear you got off the painkillers, that’s not an easy thing to do.
This threads been like a drunk driver hitting a bong driving from Tuscaloosa to Jasper on the 69hwy. To many sharp curves and trying to keep it between the RC signs and the road with deer jumping out at every curve.
It’s went from a basketball player getting busted with a shite ton of weed to pot heads trying to convince alcoholics that it’s better to be fricked up as a rat on decon than drinking a case of beer and hitting shots of wild turkey and going out and showing your arse at the local watering hole feeling 10ft tall and bulletproof to shitty west Alabama narcotics agent then hanging a left to talk about Californias economy to Alabama’s backassward way of life. I’m just waiting for someone to get aliens involved at this point.

Whole lot of ink over a BB player. I missed the part of his parent's comments about their son's situation.

I've been waiting for Oats to recruit some aliens out of Eastern Europe. They don't develop big men passing skills in the States.
