While I am happy for the young man and personally believe he made the right decision, the same decision I would want my son to make in his situation....

Where in the cornbread hell were these insiders getting their information from that he was 75-100% coming back?

He was until he went to NY that changed everything. Read the posts of updates in the football thread.

Do you honestly believe things are always set in stone? We're talking about 20 year olds, their anxious and delusional parents and loads of money... keep that in mind.

I have no doubt that Tua probably told people he wanted to come back but there was probably a huge game of telephone going on in the echo chamber. That’s where most of the “inside” info comes from anyway.

To be honest the kid look very uncertain when they asked a few questions.Which is expected !
Just the feeling it gave me was this was a I need to help my family before I cant if something happened.

This is just me guessing and thinking out loud.
But I think the dolphins owner after the bowl game has told them they will take him in the first with one of the later picks.
Which assures first round money based on the recent NY news if it was not solid at this time .

I think based on that his dad and saban advised him to declare for the draft.
I think ideally the Phins will pick judey at 5 and package the back two first round picks to get another shot at tuna.

They may even take Tua at 5 and kill the hopes of Carolina and chargers who one will go hubert
Then the phins give the two lates to the team that does not get the Oregon kid.
Which gives them a shot a judey or the kid from OU or Clemson.

But I really got the feeling he wanted to stay !

That last question about whether he ever had decided to stay at any point was obviously tough for him. You could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice he wanted to stay but had to make a tough decision.

Seems to really love Alabama and his time here despite all the hardships.

And the question was asked if he ever was going to come back and he changed his mind...he never answered that question. He just said it was a tough decision.

Nonsense, because here's an actual picture of the whiteboard in Slippery Pete's office right now:

I assume #5 would 1st have to beat #10 for the QB and that would mean not learning until near Sept if he did. It possible that once #13 is drafted then the family might just leave the area to be near him and if so #5 might look for a school closer as well. I hope that isn't the case but it looks like this family is tight. Real tight. I bet Nick understands what the deal is already and you we might learn soon if we read that Bama is looking for another QB in this class or a transfer down near May.

Not getting into the shitshow “debate” but I noticed in that last segment when they asked him about this , he looked at his family , and without smiling or looking happy , said something along the lines of “my family made this decision” . Just seemed odd or off to me

Hope the best for Tua. He was a lot of fun to watch
