This year was the crash dummy where Bama, Ole Miss and South Carolina paid the toll for future seasons. This wont be tolerated again

Since I didn't watch I missed that; so, thanks for posting it. And you're right, that is a pretty ridiculous take: "if you take out some of the plays that resulted in the winning team's scores, the final margin would have been much closer."

We'll see. This won't be the last time the Big 10 is propped up by the CFP committee, which is one of the biggest issues for me. Their rankings are inflated every. Single. Year.

r/CFB is the dorkiest, dumbest, place I’ve ever seen. It’s like all the worst parts of Reddit’s political personality transposed into CFB. Just a bunch of nerdy, SEC-hating idiots who refuse to accept reality year after year, no matter how may times teams like SMU get destroyed when they get chances.

I can live with the Big 10 bump...but we cant do that and have a participation trophy playoff. If Big 10 gets 4 teams in, SEC gets 4 teams

Self hating? I'm alumni and a fan 30 years.

Would we better than SMU? Probably. On a good day. Not like the days against OU and Vandy.

And how many losses does it take for you to accept that we DID NOT EARN IT. We were a play away from losing to UGA and South Carolina...let's say that goes the other way and we have 5 losses. We are probably STILL better than SMU. Should we still be in?

Just stop bro. You cant look at OU and Vandy in a bubble. Teams that had byes while Bama was coming off huge games or a week away from an arch rival at end of season.

The Bama schedule was brutal and Bama is still in a transition year. When you have a 4 top 25 wins like Bama did, that absolutely buys some grace for bad losses when you are vying for a spot in a 12 team playoff....not a 2 team, or 4 team, or 8 team...12 teams. Yes Bama earned at the least the spot over teams that earned NOTHING all year. SMU had 2 decent games. Won neither of them. Indiana had one decent game...and got blown out. Bama had more top 25 wins than Boise, ASU, Indiana, SMU and Notre Dame combined

But we didn’t. That’s some stupid arse logic that you can apply to every team.

You keep focusing on Bama’s losses as if SMU had zero and Bama had 4. Wasn’t a big disparity when it came to losses. SMU had one less loss. BUT they 3 fewer ranked wins. That’s where the big disparity was. They beat no one

I think ND will end up being one as well.

At least ND had a couple of wins over ranked teams...even if one was Army lol.

I actually think ND can give uga a game.

The cfp committee had no idea what they were doing. Look what they gave #1 seed Oregon to navigate to win the NC vs Penn St.

In what reality does a team get to play SMU and then Boise St in a 12 team college football playoff whenthey didn't have a single ranked win and didn't even win their conference? Now Franklin strutting around like he finally did something. Ridiculous.

I was trying to illustrate a point: how many losses before you don't belong? A lot of people seem to think we should have been in with 3. We'd have been the only one (outside of Clemson, who played in and won a conference championship and got an auto bid (we did neither).

Where do you draw the line?

I think we could beat any single playoff team on any given day. I'm not sure we could put all the wins together to win it. But that's beside the point, and I'm not arguing that we aren't a more talented/dangerous team than many of the teams in the portal.

But losses matter. And BAD losses matter a lot. We had two horrible losses.

I'm not even mad. For a transition year, we had a good year.

I just think there's some crimson tint on some of y'alls glasses. Imagine Bama being left out for some 3 loss team in the future...

But good wins should matter too. And SMU had NO good wins. SMU with a shitty schedule and has 2 losses and no ranked wins. Bama has 3 losses but 3 ranked wins.

#16 to a 4 seed with a bye week. Awful

ASU was 12. They were in anyway, but shouldn't be a 4 seed. Clemson was 16. That's what's truly retarded...jumping 16 ahead of 15, 14, 13, and 11. And that wasn't the committee. It was the CFP Board of Governors.

I think that multiple things can be true. Bama didn't really deserve to get in, but also the disparity in strength of conferences and schedules, as well as having a committee with conflictual interests subjectively deciding who gets in is completely asinine.

This is at least twice inside a week that I've agreed with you. One of us needs to seek immediate medical attention.

If you were referring to to me, no, I am just a dude who has quickly come to abhor pretty much everything about the “new” college athletics landscape. I hate the expanded/expanding playoff system. I hate NIL and the portal. And I hate that Alabama has to either embrace it completely or whither on the vine. Just today I saw that they got a commitment from a guy who’s apparently gonna be playing for Alabama and this will be like his fourth or fifth school in as many years. To me that is sickening. These are total mercenaries with ZERO loyalty to anything but $$$. My attitude is, why should I care about them when they care nothing about the uniform they are wearing other than what it does to their bank account, the amount of jewelry they wear, and the level of “ride” they drive?

Main reason I still lurk here and post is to see how others react to it, and weigh in on that.

To put a sharp perspective on the above, I saw the post about Kerry Goode and this is a shining example of exactly what I am talking about. He was at UA during my time there. He and so many of his teammates certainly still feel a big part of the “Alabama family” and wearing that Crimson jersey meant something to them. At this stage of the game, I think even most NFL players have more pride in that than most of these college players. Makes me wanna hurl.

When the championship is decided I believe the tv ratings will be in the crapper. Unless you play the best 12 teams people are not interested unless their team is playing. Most deserving teams, please stay home.

I think divisions solves much of the SEC's problems.

7 divisional games and 1 from the other division.

Aligning the divisions east and west would keep most of the old rivalries intact anyway and would make geographical sense.

West:
LSU
Aggie
Tejas
OU
Arky
Ole Miss
MissSt
Mizzou

East:
BAMA
barn
Tenner
USC
uga
Vandy
UF
UK

So you only play the team from the other division once every 14 years. Aggie was in the conference for 12 years and uga never made a trip to Kyle field. What's the difference?

This keeps most of the best rivalry games intact as divisional rivalries.

This way also allows the SECCG to stay meaningful, and we don't have to move to a 9 conference game schedule.

We can all schedule 4 cream puffs. Everybody's happy.
