Meh, I think a lot of that is overblown and hyperbole.

It probably went like this:

Saban: "That game plan kind of sucked. Is this two job thing too much?"

Kiffin: "It's harder than I thought. I'd like to be making more progress with my FAU team."

Saban: "Sark, do you feel like you can do a good job in one week?"

Sark: "Sure."

Saban: "Ok."

Why else would they be trying to get the NCAA to allow him to take Sark's place this week?

Ok, never mind. Just saw this. Maybe it went more like this:

Saban: "GTFO."

I like Kiffin and appreciate everything he has done for us but he is one hot mess.

From the article

"I used to say there's a constantly daily battle between who can take more of my money between [his ex-wife] Layla and Obama. I figured it out. I really don't make any money. I pay around 52 percent in taxes. Layla gets 34.5 percent in the divorce, and [agent Jimmy Sexton] gets 3 percent. I make [about] 9 percent, and I'm living in Tuscaloosa."

It might not be that big of a deal, but on top of everything else, I imagine Jimmy Sexton might not be happy with him for disclosing what his cut is for all the people he represents.

"The way I would describe it without details is [Sarkisian's] personality will work a little bit better than mine with coaches, and I'm not saying it was a bad thing at all," Kiffin said. "I would say Sark manages people better than I do at times."

Who in their right mind says that with two games remaining before a national championship? If I'm Florida Atlantic, I hear that quote and ask myself, "Hell, then why didn't we hire Sark instead of Kiffin?"

Yikes.

Reading everything he said.I still can't believe he said all that. Was he drunk.

He actually said,"This is going to come off bad",and then went ahead and said that thing about his time at Bama being like "dog years".

He can't help himself.

He's like an impetuous little kid that sticks his finger in a light socket just to see now bad it hurts, because they don't trust your warning that it will hurt. They have to see how bad.

I am very appreciative of Kiffin and the results on the field for the last 3 years...but it was definitely time for him to move on.

I think he's done a great (even if I didn't always like the methods) job at Bama. However, I think Saban is one of the few HC's that could have pulled this off. Now that the muzzle is off Kiffin, all the reasons him coming to Bama was so surprising in the first place are rushing back to the forefront. The guy is just a professional train wreck when left to his own devices. Great offensive mind - poor leadership and interpersonal skills.

Yep, and this will always affect him as a coach. He will never hit his ceiling, IMO.

This media storm shitting on Kiffin is absurd. The dude was trying to do two jobs and felt like Alabama suffered for it in the semi finals. So he mans up and gives up his post to make sure that Alabama doesn't suffer like we did w/o Kirby last NC. There's nothing offensive or childish about this. The media just wants a firestorm so they can make money. That's all this article is.

This is the way I think that it went down.

And I respect Kiffin for being as honest as he has been.

The only one who has said that they have been trying to get the NCAA to agree to this is Kiffin. I don't believe it for a second. I don't believe Saban wants Kiffin within 100 miles of that football team. He threw shade on his colleagues, the program, and the city of Tuscaloosa. Having Kiffin around the program right now only creates opportunity for distractions and conflict.

If you actually believe this, you're one of the most naive fans around. Gave up his post? Are you effing kidding me? Did Kirby take Pete Effing Thamel on a house hunting expedition with him while being interviewed, a week before the MSU game? Did Kirby Smart, or Jim McElwain, complain about having to live in Tuscaloosa? Did either of those guys throw shade on their colleagues, or moan about never having any fun moments in Tuscaloosa?

Taking Thamel along and being interviewed was one of the stupidest, most narcissistic acts someone in Kiffin's position could ever pull. Don't give us this shite about Kiffin "manning up". He was fired...plain and simple.

Oh yeah, the media loves a firestorm. And they know that the eternal adolescent that is Lane Kiffin will always be happy to oblige them.

I'm actually surprised that maybe Pruitt and a couple of others didn't kick his arse.
