Terrance Green being back allowed us to plug the middle up and open up the blitzers.

I'll give him credit. But 450 yards of offense given up drives me nuts. The bend don't break style of defense is ulcer inducing.

I’ll give him credit and love his fire and energy. He seems like a great guy. But I absolutely hate the soft coverage that allows teams to dink and dunk down the field. Drives me crazy.

He gets the job done…it’s just hard in the moment to be comfortable with his style of defense. After Being a Vice grip for 17 years and shutting every thing down it’s hard to get used to Bend don’t break, force FGs and Turnovers defense

I honestly think the game plan tonight was simply:

“keep everything in front of us, make them slowly work down the field and eventually Lane will get impatient, stupid and hand us the game”

It certainly seemed so. If so, they know Lane.

This was one of the biggest games in DeBoers time at Bama They weren't perfect but lead most of the game and got it together when LSU took a 2nd half lead at home. This is probably CKD's best performance as a whole team since he was hired. He has had an impressive w/l records wherever hes been at multiple levels of CFB. Give the man his props. Dude can coach and he wins most of the time.

Bama defense was FAR from “shutdown” from 2018-2023

Giving up 43+ points three times in the same season isn’t exactly lock down imo….

During the actual games I agree. When it's over I realize why we do it.

I'd rather give up a 80 yard TD pass than a 14 play drive that results in a TD anyway.

However, you give the other team multiple opportunities to make a mistake that way and it proved correct today.

The problem with this style of defense is when the opposition doesn't make those mistakes like Tennessee a few weeks ago.

LSU had red zone efficiency issues coming in and I think the plan was to make them execute down there but not let them get quick hitters. Really, same plan as Tennessee. Difference is the offense was efficient and cashed in on opportunities handed to them by the defense and special teams.

It's frustrating to watch because of the soft coverage. You'd better have depth if you're playing the bend don't break defense because you're going to be on the field alot.

Can't argue with the overall results though...ultimately all that matters is how many points the other team scores

Kane also needs a fricking get back coach before he gets flagged and negates a big stop.

You can see how much better this defense can be when we play aggressive vs playing basically prevent defense the whole game.

His scheme is like playing with fire! Sure it worked tonight but the wind doesn’t always blow in your favor and that fire becomes too hot! I’d rather them play aggressively and if you get beat, tip your hat to the other team and get them the next series.

Tennessee started 3 of their first 4 possessions of the game off inside the Bama 35yd line and only came away with 3 FGs.

Bama’s D also setup the offense twice inside the UT 30yd line.

How exactly is that “cashing in on Bama’s style of defense”?

Even Heupel was dismayed that they only got 12 points out of all those turnovers in the 1st half.

Just bc UT had the long drive in the 4th quarter where they actually crossed the Goaline, doesn’t mean they “cashed in”.

They out together that one drive the entire game despite getting 13 possessions.
Bama had 4 starters in on that TD drive everyone complains about.

Injuries combined with giving your opponent the ball 13-14 times (5 of them on your 1/2 of the field), will in fact lead to a TD or even 2….
