Columbus. My niece is getting married in Ethelsville tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah. It's just not for us. My son's girlfriend came with us and she has never been to Alabama, or Mississippi, and she couldn't believe the trees.

I've got 3 and a half years until I retire from the Air Force and I'm moving back as soon as the retirement orders are cut.

I am jealous. I have 10 more years because only a fraction of my time in the Guard counted.

You still on the west coast in the military or something? I miss home too.

I'm from Georgia and I hate this goddamn state. Georgia is literally Mississippi with a major city - and if Mississippi had a major city, it would look like ATL. I actually prefer Alabama to Georgia and am seriously considering making a move to the Alabama coast. If not there, somewhere on the Panhandle.

Aging parents whom I spent years away from due to the military are the only reason I haven't left yet.

How's your experience with Columbus?

I'm going to leave the States soon, I have to visit family overseas. I always have to remind myself to shut off my phone service before they charge me $1.50 for every minute I call people

Anyways, getting back on topic, have a fun wedding!

I was stationed here from 2009 to 2013 and my wife is from here so we visit fairly often. For a smallish town they have some pretty awesome local restaurants. They don't have much else though.

Bear88 lives here too and he loves it.

There are a lot worse places I guess but having been here all my life and to see its lack of growth compared to other cities around us and how much crime has risen and the town with tons of empty commercial space , it’s just sad

When did Jimmy John's close? I saw Backyard Burgers was closed the last time we were here and nothing has taken its place.

We picked up Umi for supper and it was freaking packed as usual.

Went to Mi Toro in Caledonia for lunch and there was no one in there.

Whenever I visit my sister, I play golf at green oaks and drive across the street to the bbq joint on 45. It’s pretty good!

I love Slim Chickens. It is superior to Cane’s, Bojangles, and Zaxby's.
