Maybe. I don't think any of the QBs have separated themselves yet but CNS and LK know at this point who will be the starting QB. If I were a betting person, I would say Coker gets the first chance. I do think Coker's main issue is not being able to win over the locker room as he is an introvert. Guess we will see.

Cokers main problem is he only has 2 states, either hes making an awesome play or hes making a terrible play. Hes like bo wallace with a big arm. Thats not going to cut it in the sec this year with our schedule

I think Lane is a 3 and out. I remember in his presser he referred to himself as a "soph." Given today's football culture that would seem pretty fitting.
As for QB, I have no problem with Morris. I have always been very high on him, and before Coker transferred I was hopeful Morris was the guy to take over for AJ. Even during AJ's tenure I would look for Morris when it was time to pull the starter.
That being said, I still want to see Coker get the start. At FSU he was always thought of as more of a gamer and performed very well there Yes...he did almost edge out Jameis. Clint left because he knew he couldn't beat either out...and he was pretty good, just undersized.
It really just goes back to his personality. I'm not sure the players will respond to it, but I'm confident if they were to buy into him he'd do very well for us.
At this point I just want to win games.

If we brought back Steadman Shealy and ran the wishbone, I wouldn't give a rip if we won the NC. I would prefer not to have another one year starter, but if it's Coker or Morris, that's fine with me.
Personally, I want us to get back to a dominant, physical OL like we used to have.

Morris is a RS Jr, so if he starts he'll return next year barring some earth shattering season that could get him drafted in the first.

Yeah he will be the back up punter again next year, cause we all know who will be the starting QB next year.

If morris is the starter this year and he does well he will not lose his job. Have you not been paying attention these days. Seniority and knowing the offense and how to be a game manager is more important to NS as a QB then someone who has potential but has not earned it by being in the system longer.

There's no guarantee he's the starter next year. His chances might be good but if all that's holding Barnett back is he's still too green then Morris will have a hard time holding him off in 2016.
That's why I wasn't interested in picking a QB based off youth in some effort to sandbag for 2016. It's gonna be a QB battle regardless of the 2015 starter coming back or not.

I think things are already being laid for Barnett to take over next yera. If the kid is half as good as reports are then how can you keep him off the field.
Most reports are that Barnett just needs experience, thats the only thing holding him back.

I disagree here. If Morris is the starter for most of the season this year and we have a very successful season he will be the starter next year. That does not mean Barnett will not get some serious reps but even myself would have concerns to replace a proven starter.
RS Barnett this year and next get experience. Then he still has 3 left or at least 2, before he is gone.

If anyone leaves I think it would be Cornwell

QB is far and away the most important position on the field. If he leaves after not getting reps, as a true freshman in the most competitive division in sports, then I don't want him on the team anyway.

I believe Barnett will win the starting job next year no matter who the starter is this year. Kid has to much talent. Hell, he is neck deep in the battle now.

Does the team practice today?

Yep, they resume practice today.

I think his MAIN issue is his ridiculous release time. Bubble screens, a staple of LK's offense can't be ran with such a slow windup. Accuracy and touch I can't speak of, but even I, a QB pleab, can see the problem with his slow throwing motion.

Agreed, and it is painfully obvious if you've ever seen him attempt a pass.

From Bol: Starter could be named soon
quote:
But just 11 days before the Tide kicks off in Atlanta, that is exactly the situation that has developed as sources close to the Tide program have indicated that if Alabama played tomorrow, the starter would be redshirt junior signal-caller Alec Morris. Morris did not arrive at the Capstone with the hype of a Jacob Coker or David Cornwell and only held offers from Wake Forest and North Texas before he pledged to the Tide, but his consistent play, high football IQ and increasing mastery of the "game manager" aspect of the position has Morris in the lead to start for Alabama.
quote:
Five-star freshman Blake Barnett, per sources, has progressed to the point where Alabama does not plan to redshirt him, and the plan is to get him snaps this season so he can be ready to compete for the starting role next year. The Tide staff is sky-high on Barnett's upside and quick acclimation to the playbook but Morris' experience has been too much to overcome for Barnett to step in and challenge thus far.
