You don't have to eat a bullet if you're in Center Point. It'll find YOU.

During the early portions of Alabama’s fall camp practices, recently-enrolled freshman corner Minkah Fitzpatrick has been actively seeing reps with the first-team defense at the left corner and Star positions. On top of that, he’s received rave reviews from his teammates during his brief time in Tuscaloosa.
And on Wednesday evening during his scheduled press conference, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban added to the hype, speaking highly of the former five-star recruit from Jersey City, N.J. Saban also touched on two other freshmen defensive backs, Ronnie Harrison and Kendall Sheffield, on Wednesday.
“Minkah’s done a really, really good job,” Saban said. “He’s very instinctive and learns quickly, understands concepts, and he’s probably going to be a guy that, if he continues to progress, can make some contribution for us this year.
“Ronnie being here in the spring is probably going to help him make a contribution this year. And he has done a good job of well. I think all guys sort of progress at a different level, and I think it’s more about the ability to grasp the concepts and develop confidence in knowing those things because it’s more than some guys are used to doing, you know?
“I think in Kendall’s case, he has shown a tremendous amount of ability, a very talented guy, works hard. But I think right now, some of these young guys get a little bit of learning overload, which kind of – they’re thinking about what they have to do rather than just reacting and doing it. You never know how long it’s going to take a guy to exactly come out of that. If Kendall can come out of that, he can probably contribute, as well.”

and what's that say about the 4 QBs behind him?

How do you know there are 4 qb's behind him? Did Saban release a depth chart?

he lines up first for drills and it's been that way all summer. he also took the most reps with the first team offense in the Aday game. what evidence is there that any other QB is ahead of him?

i swear, some of yall are clowns.

Definitely had nothing to do with a 1st round draft pick at WR or a surrounding cast and scheme that fit his talents.

Look I said he did a great job for us and he was a wonderful representative as said earlier, but the dude is struggling to make a roster in Canada. It is what it is guys.

It's a good year to play a true freshman from New Jersey.

When has Saban ever not lined the most senior QB up first for drills?

Injuries always suck, but it sounds like our CBs won't have to worry about defending Marquez North from UT. Rumor is he suffered a near season ending injury today.

Interesting QB post: LINK

Would choosing Barnett this year really be tanking it?

Not if Kiffin can hold his hand and him do well. That would be ideal. If he can't do that but Morris can be a capable game manager, then that could work too.

What we can't have is boneheaded Coker with 3 good throws and 3 really bad INTs, whether the team likes him or not.

No, and anyone implying that Bama would ever "tank it" is a moron. In recent years - just off top of my head - Bama has started the following True Freshmen, not b/c they were "tanking it", but b/c those players gave us the best opportunity for success:

Cam Robinson - LT
Julio Jones - WR
Dee Milliner - CB
Amari Cooper - WR
Dont'a Hightower & Ro McClain - LB
JK Scott - punter (i know)

They DIDN'T start these guys as FR:
DJ Fluker - RT
Mark Ingram - RB
Mark Barron - SS
Dre Kirkpatrick - CB
Trent Richardson - RB

Those guys weren't better than the guy in front of them their FR year. Saban plays the best players. If Barnett starts it is only b/c Saban feels he is best player at position and/or gives us best opportunity to win.

"Tanking it"...give me a break.

If Barnett starts, I'm confident that we will be able to succeed with him. On top of that, it would make me SUPER stoked for the seasons to come.

You can also add Eddie Jackson, and CJ Mosley in that first list.

To be fair none of the other QBs had Junior Amari and Lane Kiffin's offense.

Nah. If he's clearly the most talented guy and isn't too intimidated by the SEC opponents, let him have it. Kiffin has already shown he'll read the defense if the QB can't, so that gives Blake time to come along.

Plus we're simplifying everything, and if we intend to continue being a HUNH offense, his running ability is a huge plus.

I'm excited about the idea of Blake starting, but I wouldn't be surprised if any of the 5 guys won the job. All should do well, there is just too much talent around them not to.

Alabama returned the the practice field Thursday morning for its first of two practices. The Crimson Tide players practiced outside and in full pads on a sunny, 79-degree morning in Tuscaloosa. It was the team's ninth practice of its 2015 fall camp.

Here are several tidbits from Alabama's ninth fall training camp practice session on Thursday:

- Wide receiver Chris Black (ankle) appeared to still be limited, although he was not wearing a black, no-contact jersey. He did not, however, participate in pass-catching or individual drills.

- Redshirt freshman cornerback Marlon Humphrey (pulled muscle) appeared to be doing more during the viewing periods. He participated in position drills and lined up with what appeared to be the second-team dime package.

- The only player wearing a black, no-contact jersey -- outside of the QBs -- was running back Bo Scarbrough (knee).

- During the first of two viewing periods, it was Jacob Coker and David Cornwell heading the two quarterback lines. Alec Morris was behind Coker, while freshman Blake Barnett was behind Cornwell. Cooper Bateman worked with the tight ends. Bateman rejoined the quarterback group to start the second of two media viewing periods.

- Right now, with a multitude of injuries, ArDarius Stewart and Robert Foster led the wide receivers through individual drills.

- The Crimson Tide running backs worked on the blocking sleds to begin the media viewing periods.

- Toward the end of the viewing periods, Alabama's defensive backs appeared to line up in their dime package. Cyrus Jones and Anthony Averett were the cornerbacks, Geno Smith and Eddie Jackson were the safeties, Maurice Smith was the Star, freshman Minkah Fitzpatrick was the Money and Reuben Foster was the Mack linebacker.

- Humphrey and Bradley Sylve appeared to be the corners with the second dime group, while Tony Brown worked at either Star or Money. It was difficult to decipher which position he was lined up at.
