Respect for what? Speaking into a microphone for many years? He's made millions doing this. He has a unique voice and made some good calls through the years, but some of you need to get a grip on what constitutes an actual contribution worthy of admiration.

I'm not the one starting threads every god damn week bitching about Eli. So frick off...There was nothing wrong with that call last night yet apparently everyone is a sports broadcaster now.

Actually, he was a hockey guy first. He first came to Birmingham in the late seventies to be the radio guy for the Birmingham Bulls of the old WHA. And he was really, really good at hockey.

Boz, thanks for posting that video. I think Eli did just fine calling that Milroe Miracle play. I always watch the game on TV with the sound muted BUT have the radio tuned to a station airing the game. When I tune in and it isn't Eli I am very disappointed and just can't seem to get past that feeling for the rest of the game. I don't doubt that Chris Stewart is a good announcer but he just is not Eli. Just my two cents.

You guys should look up the video of the call on YouTube! Eli is very excited and bouncing around. His voice is just so smooth you can’t tell it……

No, he didn't. Go back and listen. He called it a Hail Mary. It wasn't any such thing. A Hail Mary is just launched downfield into a crowd and praying one of your guys comes down with it. Milroe threw that ball to a specific receiver, to a specific spot in the back corner where Bond was the only guy who could get it. Eli didn't do Jalen justice at all, and he certainly didn't describe the play.
